Taking apart an old Winchester Model 190 .22 Rifle I got for my 15th Birthday.
Well used and needed a really thorough cleaning and I wanted to fix the loose forearm.
Which I discovered after some research is caused by a loose barrel nut.

Sure enough, got it apart and the barrel nut was so loose I could unscrew it with my thumb and forefinger.

Had plenty of AA2200 powder left that I was unable to sell for my friend that had a stroke, so I had bought it. Think of it as slower than 4198, but faster than medium speed rifle powders like 4895. Since I’ve had good luck with it in .303 cast bullet shooting and my normal cast bullet in rifles powder is Alliant 2400 and hard/impossible to find, let’s see if the Krag carbine likes 2200.

At 20.0gr it liked it. Here’s a 5 shot 35yd group. Zipped home, loaded more, and back to the range. Still shot great. I can’t see/hold better than that. The Krag has a M1901 rear sight. The 03 Springfield rear sight is the same concept so my P.J. O’Hare 03 elevation micrometer rear sight adjuster works the same, providing for minute adjustments on the Krag. Just write down the numbers and one can make repeated accurate adjustments.

one of those was the first rifle I had...right about the same time the 10/22 came out. I had to remove the elevator from the rear sight before it would shoot for me. Wish I still had it. I have my brothers 3T with the original scope and box (think it was made by Winchester for them). I think there is a half box of the first shells still with. I was guilted into a 10/22 a short time ago. It is still in the box next to the 3T with 2 extra mags on top in a safe.

Daezee’s post reminded me of my grandfather’s first rifle which I have in the back of the safe. Winchester 1902. Barrel says .22 short but I have shot .22 long in it (no HV stuff). What a fantastic little rifle. Looks just like this one but the metal loop behind the trigger guard is slightly larger on mine. Read the model designation on the barrel was changed from "1902" to "02" in February of 1919 so that narrows date of production to sometime after Feb. 1919.

shot the .22 match this morning...got there and had trigger issues again. Used a borrowed rifle AND ammo....wasn't a pretty sight.

sorted range pick ups...got more than 1/2 bucket of .223...a large amount of 9mm...some .38SPL and various oddities...more brass coming Tuesday.

Finished this up...there were a bunch of bent cases in one of those cans and after the SP/LP sort it looks like I lost about 1/3 bucket...3 2/3 should hold me a minute.

That cement mixer does a pretty good job.

Nothing special, no pics. Took my M1898 Krag rifle and a 44 Special revolver out to plink at a steel target to get some empty brass. Starting a project to find alternative powder that works as well as Unique and 2400 for cast bullets in those two guns until Unique and 2400 become available again, so I needed some empty brass.

Did run a solar generator hooked to solar panels for two fans to cool me and the guns off. That worked great for an area not grid connected.

No pictures yet, but tore down and started working on an old 1884 Springfield Trapdoor rifle.
Stock has an 1889 Cartouche mark. Filthy is an understatement.

@Rebel_Rider1969 helluva fly swatter...I know what wholesale is and what MSR is. We did good on these 2 non-existent rifles.

this should be a great deal more consistent than what I seem to be struggling with. Replacement scope should be here this week. UPS may get the rifles here by Friday from OH and the Timney Straight bow should be here by then too.

might have to try it on a crow shoot somewhere

    Here are some pictures.

Firing pin was frozen, some Kroil, patience and light taps with a punch.

Also been cleaning up this piece.

Remington Model 95 Type 3 Double Barrel Derringer in .41 Short Rimfire.
Made sometime between 1888 and 1910. Not sure if the numbers on it are a serial number or batch number.
If a serial number, probably 1888 manufacture.

Quite a few in the old west were killed by something like this.

Went and joined up at a new range today.

My slide just go back after a 2 month hiatus with JagerWorks. Can't wait to take it out and see if it shoots as cool as it looks now. :)

not hunard percent,,,but that might need pics
Im more concerned that this range I joined... has a full bar in the main building. I was always told the 2 don't mix, but I guess Wisconsin has a reputation to live up to.

    Blaster pics coming up!

In my bid to find a powder I can use for cast rifle bullet shooting instead of 2400, I started with my M1898 Krag rifle. Since my Krag carbine likes 20 gr 2200, I loaded 20 rounds with that, substituting a larger diameter bullet the rifle needs. Two 10 shot groups at 35 yd. Not bad, but I think I can do better, so I’ll try 19, 19.5, 20.5, and 21 gr next.
