I cant decide what kind of optics I want yet. Im more of a scope and bolt action kind of guy but I might just run irons on the AR.

I'd take a Vortex Strikefire before the Bushnell. Jmo.

It was the Firefield reflex from Walmart. Like $40. After each shot the reticle kept going higher and higher until it wasnt even showing on the glass.

I told him those colors would mess up his shooting, but since they beat Bama I guess he'll be fine.

I am going with Dante on this one. The VORTEX Strikefire is a great RDO for a very reasonable price. It even comes with the mount. Sometimes you can get them from PSA for $99.99. Academy Sports sells them for $159.99. The nice thing about VORTEX optics is the VIP Warranty. It is a lifetime unlimited warranty.

The Aimpoint PRO is one of the best and most reasonably price optics you can buy. You can find them anywhere from $350-$420. I picked up the ones I have that were like new for $350 shipped.

Tell me which red dot so I don't make the same mistake.....
I'm with Dan, vortex is a solid red dot for around $100, although I've since upgraded slightly to an eotech 512 and it's very nice. I did get an exceptional deal though...

You sure did get a good deal! What was it, like $250 or so?
I agree with James though, the Aimpoint Pro is the best value in solid "hell and back" kind of quality optics. I'm running a Comp M4 because of the absolutely mind bending ridiculous battery life. But, if it's just a range toy, Vortex answers the call really rather well, especially the SPARC with it's 2MOA dot.

Haha close enough. Think of it this way, outside of ACOGs, you always see Comp4s and Eotechs. Just sayin.
On a side note...did some research on the ZQ1 ammo I picked up the other day and apparently it's NATO spec (meh) but the reviews on the consistency have been pretty good and they're sealed around the primer and projectile. Thought this was interesting.

^ grab a Vortex if it's about saving money. No better optic for that price point. I run the aimpoint PRO and love it. 3 year battery life....and that's with it left ON the whole 3 years!

and yes, that's a lefty holster. And no, not for David. Even though he's a huge Ole Miss fanboy!lol

If you live in suburbia, ACOGs are absolutely ridiculous. Try shooting aiming across you living room on 4x, NO WAY!

Since I don't have the opportunity to hunt, I've never shot past 100 yards, and within that range, red dots reign supreme.

I'm on the same boat as people above. Vortex Strikefire or Sparc are both fantastic for the money. After using both, I think I'll go with Sparc's from now on because of the smaller 2 MOA dot in a lighter package.
