James, just wondering your motivation behind usung a 9mm to call coyotes when you have the potential for a 100yd+++ shot ??
Do you only own one gun ?? Seems like a very poor choice to me. (IMO)
Do I need to list the reasons ??

Your right. Not going to do it. Set up my ar with the 3x vortex and green light. 55gr hornady spire points. 0 at 25. Shot great on the money and ranges are predictable. Hitting steel at 300. Using my old diamond back AR. ( not one of the new ones built/owned by taurus now) seems to be very good quality and accuracy. 1:9t.

My Coyote rifle is a .17 WSM Savage fun gun to shot killed several at 300-350 yds. Had a big boar walk out at 75 yds. hit him a little back in the armor stunned him long enough to get a second shot in the ear..dead hog

Eskimos go killer man-eating polar bear hunting with 22mag. And Mr. Bell went and slaughtered 1,000 elephants all across Africa with a 7mm Mauser at like 50 yards in the bush. He has some good books on it. A whole bunch of head shots

A 120+ grain 9mm (.38 wide) solid copper holler point going 357 Magnum style muzzle velocity is nothing to talk smack about when you have 30 of them in semiauto, and a few more mags on the side. When a 300 lb boar walks out on me at close range I'm going to mow him down

Getting my gear together. Probably won't need the wiggle tail on the call. Had my pop up blind and chair in position for over a week. Gonna pull the chip on the spycam that's not sending and take a look. Moving it somewhere else. Hopefully it's been working its supposed to save the pix if they don't transmit. Dog food I put out has turned and reeks! So that wasn't a very good idea. Thermal cel too. Damm bugs!!! ATN binox, NV and mantis call.

One more piece. Sightmark NV HD. 2x16x28. Put it on the AR and go. Rechargeable External battery pack, should run about 15 hrs. External uv light. Can do photos and video. Picked this up from one of our fine members.
If you have experience with this model or NV hunting use in general chime it. Thanks.

I could give you a primer on what to look for and what areas to look in but there are many more highly expieranced guys here than me. (Typically, old guys don't know sheet.)

More info. Played with it in the back yard. Day mode color is awsome. Night mode in white/black or green/black. It's much better than the photon xt that blew up. Again, sightmark is turn on and blast no fooling around to get shooting. No built in ir like the XT, ya have to have an external. Have to get a micro SD card for it, for video/pix. The external battery is great, no aa batts needed. Zero maybe tomm, all kitted up. Just need to go look and call.

Setup. May put the battery on a scope ring to move it closer to the rail. Ordered some of the wire keepers that go on the rail to keep from snaging the battery wires during use. Look at that cool cheek riser!!

Been an avid predator hunter since my first call in with a Circe jackrabbit call in 1968, that hooked me, been hunting every winter since then. Used to average 75-100 every winter, calling from nov to late feb., never was a fan of hunting spring of summer predators, but I was usually selling fur which was worthless in the off months. All my experience is out west Az and NM, so Im out of my realm here in the south. Coyotes are coyotes, so I presume the same precautions are the same no matter where you hunt them? I don't wear camo, just use muted color clothing, thousands of coyotes called to the gun have proven to me, that movement is the biggest factor along with the wind. At some point during the stand, if you havent shot the coyote, it will end up down wind. Call a few in without shooting at them just to watch what they are going to do, and you'll see them working their way steadily down wind, it's just what they are genetically predisposed to do.
As for sound, I disagree, I use volume, never start the stand low then work up , I want that coyote triggered and excited to come in and keep coming until it is in a place I can shoot it. No stopping and starting the call, turn it on, with good volume, no movement and set up cross wind with caller 20 yards to the cross wind .
Thats my .02 cents and it didn't even cost you that:)

Where'd you get the cheek riser? I've been looking for one for an MFT commercial stock, but I'd settle for one for a milspec Magpul stock I have. What I really need is to find a black milspec MFT stock and a riser. Every time I go shopping the black is sold out and there's nothing but FDE or green or gray
