Been an avid predator hunter since my first call in with a Circe jackrabbit call in 1968, that hooked me, been hunting every winter since then. Used to average 75-100 every winter, calling from nov to late feb., never was a fan of hunting spring of summer predators, but I was usually selling fur which was worthless in the off months. All my experience is out west Az and NM, so Im out of my realm here in the south. Coyotes are coyotes, so I presume the same precautions are the same no matter where you hunt them? I don't wear camo, just use muted color clothing, thousands of coyotes called to the gun have proven to me, that movement is the biggest factor along with the wind. At some point during the stand, if you havent shot the coyote, it will end up down wind. Call a few in without shooting at them just to watch what they are going to do, and you'll see them working their way steadily down wind, it's just what they are genetically predisposed to do.
As for sound, I disagree, I use volume, never start the stand low then work up , I want that coyote triggered and excited to come in and keep coming until it is in a place I can shoot it. No stopping and starting the call, turn it on, with good volume, no movement and set up cross wind with caller 20 yards to the cross wind .
Thats my .02 cents and it didn't even cost you that:)
    Holy crap 75-100 every winter?

You can tell by my photos, in the country I hunt, one can actually "see" coyotes coming in to the call. Not uncommon, in some places if Im hunting open ground , to see a coyote or a pair coming in at over 500 yards or more, then die at 25 yards from the gun. I would imagine you guys out here, call way more coyotes that you never get an eye on due to the terrain here, brutal for sure. Ive been here for 9 years and never once have I been out to try and call a coyote, I just don't know how I could accomplish it? I go back to my home place in southern Arizona every winter to hunt for a few months just to appease the urge. Don't hunt anywhere near as hard as I once did, of course, I don't do anything near as hard as I once did like the rest of us old farts!

Nice dog. Mine like yours just gave up the ghost a couple months ago, at about 11 or 12 years old. I'm going to get a puppy soon, just gotta get a truck first. How did yours handle going coyote hunting? Can't wait to train a new hunting partner. My girlie was scared of gun fire. She was a pound puppy, and I think she had been traumatized by guns before I got her. So much as pick up a long arm around her and she'd go running

James,ZERO 1/2" low at 50,or ZERO AT 50. Your choice.
Looks to be a unit that will give you some fun. As discussed, the weak point will be your illuminator.
BUT do not try to out illuminate the effective range of your NVD. However if you get one of them 900+ nanometer IR's it WILL make your target more distinctive at the 200+ yd range. More detectable with movement also.
Let me know your zero and I will give you the "cheat sheet". But you really will not need it. With that bullet+ speed your PBR will be a no brainer. ---- SAWMAN

The light I'm using is the evolva t20 850nm. Three modes, flood, spot low, spot high. Has the adjustable bezel to tune the beam. Alas, it does have the red glow to it. Much more muted glow than the factory light that came with the NV scope though.

Where'd you get the cheek riser? I've been looking for one for an MFT commercial stock, but I'd settle for one for a milspec Magpul stock I have. What I really need is to find a black milspec MFT stock and a riser. Every time I go shopping the black is sold out and there's nothing but FDE or green or gra

Sawman had it in his parts box. Needed one after my mustache ripping trip to the range using the ctr stock.

Oops, 55gr V-max. 1 inch low at 50, on at 100. If careful I can make rds touch at 100. Scope base was loose after 10rds. Pulled off, tighten, put back on reset 0. Good shooting for my enhanced trigger, slightly better than milspec.
Digital dayscope is a little fuzzy at 16x. Very clear at 2x and 4x. Shooting critters fine, punching paper fine. Reading at 100 yards not so much.
Used the 10rd evil plastic pmag, worked great.
Now just gotta go out and try.

First, my hats off to the gentleman who night hunt. You are a special breed. I really mean that. I'm envious of your skill and success and will have a much deeper appreciation after tonight. Deer hunting from a shooting house in the fall is a cake walk.

Lessons learned- In the dark, I mean really dark. Fingergroove grips look really cool in the catalog. Aren't worth a crap. Check 4 times before you lean your rifle against anything. Forget the bug spray, drink a pint of fireball whiskey, at least if your hands are numb, it's for a fun reason. ( didn't spray my hands, didn't want it eating the scope/rifle) Don't have to worry about getting bored, you've got your eye in the NV glary scope for +2 hours, might as well close the other eye and go look at the sun tomorrow for 2 hours. Cheek rests are ok if you have the stock fully extended, cause your not charging the zip stick with it in any other position.
Anything electronic will act up. Just put new batteries in the atn binox yesterday, 20 mins crapped out. Could only get 50 feet out of the caller, used it before at 60 yards no issue?

NV at least worked right. Max range for ID and shoot should be +/- 150 yards. 110 paces. Tried it on 400 yard clear cut, no joy. 2x and 4x zoom worked good above that too fuzzy for me. Lowered the rez down to 740p from 1080p. Better. Lowered brightness down to 25%. Better. Need to shoot using the small single chevron, was using the T one, too big. Distracting.
Shot some pix with the scope, as soon as I figure out how to get them out I'll post.

Pix of NV glow at about 12 feet. You can see it at night.

Used the 10rd magpul it didn't explode.

Next time I'm putting something dead out and watching it.

    More but tried now. Later.

As much as every dog I've ever owned absolutely loves peanut butter, I wonder if it's illegal to use it while hunting coyotes?

Your the guy that ask questions then ignor the advice.
THERMACELL. ---> EVER FORKIN' HEARD OF THEM !!
Hang around and listen. Quit forkin' talking.
Get your EXPIERANCED ADVICE from the people that we talked about the other day.
    Jeeeeeeze !!!
You can do/accomplish everything in total dsrkness that you can during the hours of daylight. It just takes longer. (PLAN FOR IT,DON'T GET FRUSTRATED ) Slow deliberate movements. Practice with a blackout mask. Gettin' in your pack, changing batts in your gear, which pocket contains what.
Set your stuff up so that you can feel where everything is. Orient certain items in certain ways. Never use a visable light. If you "just gotta",use a 15L RED LIGHT. If your eyes are oriented to the dark, that will be bright enough to get into shooting house, tent blind, ladder stand, etc. Do not point the little light out towards your target area, plot, etc. Try to keep it pointed at the ground.
Chamber a rd,insert a mag, turn on your sheet, load your pockets, etc,AT YOUR TRUCK. I find it convienient to wear a turkey (type) vest with tons of both small and larger pockets. A "concealed carry" type vest would work also. Mandate - - -> extremely lightweight and breathable.
ONLY WEAR DARK CLOTHING. Hat with built in face mask you can drop down if needed. Shirt, pants, socks, everything dark. Does not have to be black. A dark camo is better than solid colors. I wear tigers . . . ALWAYS !!
    BUT WAIT . . . you smoke. Your clothes smell,your truck smells,every piece of gear that you use (gun,mag,ammo,caller,NV,etc,etc)smells like a cig. Soooooooo . . . . ?? --- SAWMAN

Yep, like in all the Nam movies. Cigarettes are target indicators, even just the smell, even for wildlife. My stepdad has a pair of boots he only uses for hunting. Changes into them at the hunting spot. They have only ever seen dirt at the spot. He swears that the animals can smell even the gas station you stopped at on the way to the the hunt, nevermind your house and walmart ... from the bottom of your boots
