3 orders showed up today, barrel nut, spring and washer, upper receiver, correct small pad ejection port cover, gas tube, etc.

Got an A1 pistol grip on order, and watching a few D4 style stocks. She's slowly coming together......

Dammit I'm looking at the parts going something is wrong or missing......I forgot to order the handguard ring. It's marked off on my parts list, so either I didn't put it in the cart, or I accidentally deleted it from my cart.

When unboxing today's parts delivery the wife asked what is that? I replied gas tube. She's says it's bent. I say it's supposed to be.

Installed the ejection port cover......I'll wait until our company leaves and I got the one week break before, more company shows up, and do the rear sight install.

The rear sight assembly is not hard to install, but you have to know what you are doing and be patient. I have installed several of them over many years, but the first time was a little trying in that I had to figure out the best ways to install all of the little parts. The A1 grip does have a hole at the bottom of the grip and it also DOES NOT have a finger bump like the A2.

Again thank you, I would have never gotten as far as I have, had it not been for your tutelage......She's getting there, and slowly taking shape. She'll be in the A2 butt stock until I get the Type D style butt stock, but most people wouldn't know the difference.

Again, you are welcome. Glad to help when and if I can. Just be patient with the D type buttstock. Originals are out there, but costly. Hopefully, Brownells will have their reproduction D type stock in soon and allow you to save some money over an original.

Good Gawd those are some small ass parts in the A1 rear sight bag. I was looking at them as I was watching a video on how to install them.....Damn, I'm going to have use a box to assemble it inside of so I don't lose any parts.

    See, told ya!!

My wife told me, she'll take a large cardboard box, cut a hole ontop of it for a shop light, paint the box white inside, and after I climb in it to assemble the sight she'll tape it close until I quit cursing.

She figures that if I'm not cursing, I've either completed the task, gave up on it, or I'm dead.......You have to love a caring wife like that......LOL!

Is the buffer style and length between the A2 and Type D buttstocks compatible (Same)? I know from reading that the screw for the stock is different lenghts, at least that is what I believe I read.

I was lucky to run across one at a great price, but it had the crack in the top from "mortaring" it's just more flavor and suits me. Works fine.

What is the cause/meaning of "Mortaring"? I've seen it mentioned on a couple different sites, with these stocks.

Basically, slamming the buttstock on the to free up a stuck BCG.

Thank you for the explanation.......Got a text from my oldest son......Dad there's a package inbound, found a Colt made A1 pistol grip for you. Followed with you never know, Opa (My dad 26 years in the AF), Pappy (My FIL 20 years in the AF), you (Me 23 years in the AF) or Uncle D (My brother 20 years in the AF) might have touched it. Oh and Happy Father's Day!

Guess I'll stash the repro PG I ordered and put the Colt PG he ordered on it.....!

I'll be at a standstill for a few days. Was going to attempt the rear sights now that our company is gone. But I caught something, summer cold, the crud, the whatever, and its kicking my ass right now.

Started feeling something coming on, on Wednesday night, but between then and now all I had was a sore throat. Today I've got the sore throat, plus the cough, runny ass nose, then congestion, coughing up snot, no appetite....And just generally in a grumpy mood.

So I'm just going to chill in bed, do some more interent reading on the 604, and generally just drool over gun porn, while I get over this.
