Did a little gardening. Came in and made some peanut butter cookies. Have some skillet fried deer frikasee, rice, and butter beans going.

6 hours in on a smoked Boston butt on the ol' Weber kettle grill. 2nd round of coals, 3rd round of mesquite chunks and holding a steady 225 degrees the way she always has.

Just getting prepped to cook, so no pics yet. Making Portuguese style venison shanks from a Hank Shaw recipe. Used his Hungarian neck roast recipe earlier this year and DANG! Even my super picky 9 year old
nephew wanted seconds. But, it could just be he wanted to ensure he got some of his Auntie's homemade Meyer lemon pound cake (from lemons grown in the backyard).

If you've never heard of Hank Shaw, you're missing out. He is dedicated to game cookery, with a website and a line of cookbooks. I'm using Buck, Buck, Moose here. Even got tongue recipes. Yes, tongue recipes! Love it. His recipes and tips for game handling are FIRE!!!

Thanks, i will look him up

Yes sir. His cookbooks are available on Amazon. BBM should be in any big game cooker's library, IMO.

If you take a minute to read it, you should save money because you'll stop taking deer to the game processor. On my 140 lber this year, I ended up with a small ziploc of minor trimmings to take for sausage when I get around to it. He is a big proponent of using the muscle groups as intended, and I love that philosophy myself.

I bought a LEM grinder last year and love it. My next purchase is going to be a cube steak attachment and a meat slicer.

He's got a deer ham on the smoker recipe I plan to try soon. Looks like roast beef when it's done. That slicer would be perfect for the lefties on that I bet.
