I would love to try a bottle of Blanton’s but I’m not going to jump thru hoops to get one. I would’ve told that smug liquor store manager to keep it.
There are lots of good, readily available bourbons out there.
I like George Dickel, Elijah Craig, Jefferson’s, Basil Hayden and several others. Been meaning to try Angel’s Envy and Larceny. Probably next on the list.
Is that Heaven Hill pretty good? I saw a bunch of that last week.
This time of year I like a little Evan Williams Egg Nog. Good stuff.
And I like a glass of Fireball after drinking beer at the beach all day. (Just FYI, I’m not driving)
Larceny is excellent, just tried my first bottle, I will be buying more.

Now drifting into rye etc... perhaps we have lost the spirit of "Good Bourbon" in a glass possibly even over a couple of cubes? (round ball ice is even better)
    So perhaps a cocktail?
How about 1 & 1/2 oz Rye, 1 & 1/2 oz Makers Mark Bourbon, 1 & 1/2 oz quality Sweet Vermouth, 8 drops Peychaud's Bitters, Two Maraschino Cherries. (chase them with a teaspoon and allow the drippings to fall into the chilled glass) Now every ingredient in this concoction can be changed to make for a different flavor. Perhaps those that don't care for a spiced flavor would substitute cherry bitters.

I’ve seen that 1792 around quite a bit and it’s reasonable. Have you tried it yet?

I’ve had 1792 several times and it was good but my two whiskeys are Crown with water, and Gentleman Jack with Pepsi. I know this is a travesty for you coni sures of fine bourbon but thats how I roll. I also like catsup on a good steak lol.

Guess I'm the same kind-of-sewer Y'all see in the middle of the street, but if a steak needs any type of condiment on it perhaps it ain't a good steak! JMHO.

Now those that recall when Jack Daniels Green Label used to be a 90 Proof Tennessee Sipping Whiskey, Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is also charcoal filtered and 86 proof. It has a little more corn flavor, less of a rye bite, but is close in character to the Old Jack Green.

Well after opening just now it is very nice actually. I like it. Probly get another bottle or two while they are on sale!
Look for the 1792 barrel proof. It’s usually a lower percentage than other full flavor bourbons. It’s worth the price tag.
