My wife and I have a new baby boy.

Pretty sure guns are female and ammo is male.

A gun has fun holes to put things in - magazines and ammo. It can go bang 100+ times, takes a while to heat up but is then hot for a long time. They can blow up if not treated properly, and can make someone’s life a living hell. There are a lot of cheap ones, but you have to work to get a good one.

ammo just makes a load pop and then gets tossed to the side, can be reloaded but it takes a while, and are a dime a dozen (most times). Most guns can get any ammo but prefer the better stuff - most are very picky about their ammo.

Got this gun from a friend and the previous owner was his stepmom, who passed a few years ago. When he cleaned out her place he found this, InterArms FireStar 9mm gun. It was pretty bad off, some rust pitting and it had some nasty-looking gun grease all over it. I did a complete strip of it, found a guy on youtube, in Spanish... ( thank God for High School Spanish class ), that did a complete disassembly video on it. I don't have a sand blaster, so I just sandpapered as much as I could and acetone cleaned it. I think it is good enough to do some cerakoting on it. Once I'm done, I'm hoping to bring it back to life.

    Prep'ed about 100pcs of Hornady 450Bushmaster brass.
My gun and case gauge likes it to be 1.696" OAL.
    Loaded all with CCI450 primers.
Will use Lil'Gun for all med/heavy loads. Trail Boss for the light loads. Especially with the 135's. ---- SAWMAN

Finished sizing and lubing all the 6.5 bullets I cast this last casting season. Reloaded 6.5 Swedish with cast bullets.

Got a shipping notice on a Model 1898 Krag rifle I won. Back in 2007 I lost my Krag in a house fire. Been looking on and off for a nice replacement ever since and think I got a nice one coming. I know, buy the gun, not the story, but the story is that it was obtained by the grandfather just prior to WWI and kept in the family ever since until the grandson decided to sell it. Photos look nice, including the bore. Never "sportorized", but kept original. It was made in 1899, and since it was upgraded to have a model 1901 rear sight, it must've went back to Ordnance for overhaul/upgrading. Ordered 200 30-40 Krag empties. Now to find a bayonet, but not spend a fortune for it.

When I lost my Krag, the bolt assembly had been in a safe. Since no more Krag, I gave the bolt to a friend that owned a Krag. Years later he sold his Krag, and when I mentioned I finally have a Krag coming, he said he still has the bolt and will give it back so I have the spare parts. He delivered it back Sunday.

I really hate to see an old gun "sporterized". It usually is a hack job, terribly done, with silly parts, and will not make them shoot any better than the origional.
Of course some of the Mauser's are done well and if a strong action is needed then . . . ??
Reclaim the old guns for parts but don't try to make them into something they never was,or ever intended to be. JMHO.
Older guns should be treated in the manner in which Bruce treats his. Kinda like my retro XM177E2. Start changing parts ?? NO FORKIN WAY !! ---- SAWMAN

Never did like the two position stocks on the XM's/609's etc. Two position is either too long or two short.
Preferred the 10.5" ish LOP for various reasons. Tuck it to rock & roll plus the compactness.
Was thinking of having JJ put a mid length hole in the buffer tube but somehow that seemed like it would be "sacrilegious".

Not today but yesterday, didn’t have time to post. Built/assembled a new competition carbine for our shooter out at Element Training complex. Fun build, everything all completed minus the headspace gauging which will be completed this afternoon then to test fire. Carbine sits at 6lbs naked, will wear a leopold mark 6 1-6 M6c1 Tmd-r

Error error error lol, barrel failed headspace. Tried with two other bolts. Thought better check my gauges. All my rifles passed. Tried a bolt from one of my passed rifles and still the “go” wouldn’t go and the “no go” definitely didn’t go. Bolt lugs were dragging on the chamber. Guess the barrel isn’t in spec, way too tight.

ETA: chrome bolt from this rifle passed in two other of my rifles. Common denominator; Odin works barrel.

You might just think about adding a Ti fireing pin. Shortens lock time, which might just help in your application of that weapon. ---- SAWMAN

Today I got my T/C Contender barrel back from Mike Bellm at Bellmtcs.com The factory muzzle brake came off as it was only soft soldered from the factory. A very poor design. It is a 223 Super 14 stainless steel barrel. Mike machined a 12 hole muzzle brake into the barrel and re-crowned it. It has NO muzzle rise and NO recoil at all. I could not be more pleased with his work. Mike is the Contender / Encore guy to go to with many years of experience with T/C Encore and Contender / G2 firearms.
