The backup would be a dirty toilet bowl brush. Nobody wants to get hit with a dirty toilet bowl brush, nobody.

Thanks for your input guys. For me,currently it's a 1911 for inside and a 308 AR for outside. Thanks again.

Thinking if you shot that thing 14 times Bill, you could end up back in FLORIDA from the recoil, anything to the recoil? :kev: :kev:  :plane: :plane:

Keep a pair of shorts by the bed with a black hawk holster on it, streamlight and XD .45 on the nightstand. That way I can quickly dress and investigate. If I just think I hear something but the dogs aren't going wild I go with the .45, if the dogs are barking, someone is there so I holster the .45 and grab the 870 tactical

I grab my Taurus 809(9mm), with 124gr hornady xtp's, cheap harbor freight headlamp and an old fiberglass axe handle I used to take with me to walk my dog.

I need one of those recoil reducing grips, Those are some miserable little bastards to shoot...

And here is my first line of defense...

And then I have an XDM 9MM with a Surefire X400 bedside and probably an AR or shotgun somewhere nearby too with a light on it depending on what I have out of the safe at the time.

Let's bump this thread back up. Here's my new nightstand gun:
FNX-45 Tactical with Trijicon RMR and Surefire X300.

Long gun is better than a handgun, but a long gun doesn't fit in a nightstand quick access safe. Can't leave guns lying around with little ones in the house, so it works for me. :)

Nice set up Dan. I had a FNP .45 Tactical with an RMR and a TLRs. Now Xdm 3.8 .45 with Viridian laser light and I have a hand held flash light. All locked up by me when I sleep because I have little ones.
