Two factors at play here.
1-physical labor in this heat
2-you are getting old :tongue:

Third factor: hiring some young people that thinks work involves "move one box 5', stop, text, check the internet, rest, go get something to drink, check messages, text, sit in the shade, move box 5', go to lunch. After a while it takes more energy to stop, find helpers, chastise, beg, plead, embarrass, pick up what I was doing and continue. They can't pick up a 60#carton without help but they can drive the golf cart.

Fuck em. I have made some phone calls and assembled a team of 50-60 year olds that, like me, can work in this heat and sun all damned day long with very few breaks, no social media every 3 minutes and are smart enough to make snap decisions like "don't stack box of cylinder heads on top of a box of delicate instruments.

Even when they do actually attempt something they'll do it the longest, hardest most nonsensical way possible. I mean, I know it take a little age and experience to get efficient at some things but damn! I and my friends had some effing common sense at 16, they don't know shit at 24.

I was trying to find people that actually need money, as in kids with no job or minimum wage. Now I know why they have no job and minimum wage is way overpayment.

I may put the word out here depending on how it goes near the deadline. After today it's going to be a week or so of slow steady moving of big, heavy, delicate objects (read that as just one or two people and a LOT of dependence on hydraulics) then I'll get back to loading boxes, moving and unloading.


On a related subject: anyone want three Dell towers and one LCD monitor? The towers were stripped of the hard drives but I'm pretty sure all power supplies and the rest are fine. Monitor works perfectly. Free but you gotta come to my house to get them. They're fairly old and outdated, may be good for building up a gaming system or such.

That's offer #1 on my personal good karma giveaway but I'm too tired to put it where it needs to be.

Come get them and use them for that. Works for me. I would like to pop the monitor but if some kids can use it......

I had one of those monitors (22") in the bar at home, bought a sound bar, tied it through a box and it made an excellent median center. Added a Chromecast and Netflix, Hulu and Youtube was perfect. Even hung it on the wall for less than $2.00 in harware.

Off on a cruise to a car show in Ocean Springs this morning. Target is back from the body shop and ready to roam. It's going to be a quick look at the cars in this heat. Resisting the urge to visit the casinos.

5:45 this morning my oldest grandson and I were headed to the woods to try and find a swimming hole that no one was camped at. Found an empty one and now we're headed back with the wife and both boys
