Forum member Seanpcola's wife suffered an aneurism and is hospitalized for the next several weeks, in New Orleans.

Please send your prayers for her, she's expected to slowly recover. Sean is a good friend and a wonderful person, I hope and pray all this turns out good for them.

    Rick

OMG...I am so sorry to hear this, Sean my thoughts an prayers for you and the wife!

That is why he has been sorta OFF the forum.. Sean, I have a 10" netbook Aspire, win 7 and internet ready if you can use that during this time to carry back and forth so you can stay in touch. Other wise I have a 15" notebook running XP that you could use too(has to be plugged in as the battery is dead)..both are sorta spares that will not slow me down at all but not having here.

Oh jeeeeez, thank you all guys for the well wishes, prayers and offers of help. I just happened to stumble on this thread.

What she experienced is called a sub arachnoid hemorrhage (apologies to Statdoc if I got that wrong LOL) and they flew her immediately to NO since they have the specialists and equipment for that there. VERY fortunately I had just left for work and she called not 10 minutes later telling me she was in severe distress, I dialed 911 before I even got back to the house assuming and sort of suspecting what had happened. She was at W FL hospital in less than 35 minutes from the time of that phone call making the difference between full recovery and a ...... bad outcome. I'm telling you guys that as a wake up call to keep an eye on your family members, make sure communication lines are open all the way around and DO NOT screw around if you see any odd changes or unusual complaints from those around you. We were lucky. She didn't display any symptoms prior to the event but I should have been more on top of things as we ain't getting any younger. She almost didn't make it to her cell phone. If she hadn't I would have come home at lunch to something really bad and probably irreversible permanent damage or worse. The doctors expect a full recovery and so far things look good and on track, barring any setbacks.

Frank, thank you for the awesome offer of the notebooks. I'm good and in fact made a couple of posts while sitting around the ICU on here from my Nook HD. Not the greatest thing for web work but I can read the forum and post text. Probably I can do pictures too but haven't messed with it. I know this little thing has been a lifesaver for me as I don't do idle time and sit around and wait very well. I've got a ton of novels loaded on it ad as I mentioned I can go to here or so other forums and stay in touch with the "real world", a much needed diversion. I have been a bit curious about surfing GCGF since I read that post a while back about someone on here being at Baptist and getting shut down from gun related sites. So far no problems. I even wore my GCGF T-shirt one day and the only comment I got in the whole hospital was from a guy on the elevator talking ARs and the same with one of the nurses. So, it's good to know the medical profession isn't wrought with anti's. LOL Oh and the general consensus of the hospital staff is Obamacare sucks.

Yeah Rick, we're good friends, not so sure I can be considered a "wonderful person" though.

You got that exactly right. :pound:

I hope my folks at WFH treated you well. If not, I will kick some butt for you!

You would be surprised how many staff conversations are gun-related. At least here in P'cola, we are all still "bitterly clinging".

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Thanks you Dr. Yep, the W FL crowd was amazing and did everything they could. They attempted to get her a spot at Schands (sp?) but that was the exact time that hurricane/TS Andrea was moving across Florida so no flights in that direction. B'ham was booked up (Thank God frankly) so NO it was. Works out best since that's the closest of the three anyway.

I really have to hand it to doctors and nurses. You guys are just born with something extra. There is no way I could deal with taking care of people. My wife is (according to them) one of the easiest to deal with patients they've had but when she's experiencing those disoriented moments it takes a crew to keep her in bed and she only weighs about a buck. She wants to get up and feed the hospital staff. LOL

Reminds me of two funny things that's happened during this. First one is that about every hour they ask her a series of questions to test her mental state. Things like her birthday, name, where is she, on and on. When she's out of it she lays there and still answers every question with a smile until they ask her the name of the president. She clams up and frowns. How knocked for a loop do you have to be before you cease being disgusted by that bastard??? LOL

Second one: In one of her fogged out states she started talking about T-shirts. She said she was really mad at the guy she got ours from. She said he wasn't very nice and she was sure he had ripped her off. ?????? I finally figured out she was talking about the guy that supplied their logo shirts for work. Before I did I asked "You mean our GCGF shirts? Your wiener shirt?". She looked at me like I'm dumb and said "NO!! That's Ian. I looooooovvveee Ian".

Thanks guys. I'm home but talked to her by phone tonight. She's lucid and the doctors are very optimistic as of tonight. Not totally out of the woods but above the recovery curve. I think she (we) dodged a huge bullet.

BTW - my Avatar is a picture of (then) Lt Col Jimmy Dolittle affixing a friendship medal he received from the Japanese sometime during the 20's or 30's to a 500 lb bomb, onboard the USS Hornet. He (Col Dolittle) thought that since Japan and the US were at war, the Japanese would probably want the medal returned. He was pleased to be able to return it to them via a special airmail delivery to the City of Tokyo.

Wow, I enjoyed reading that! I'm an aviation buff but never heard that before.

Thanks John. On one of these trips back and forth I'm gonna buy you either a breakfast, lunch or dinner.
