I watched an 8 pt chase a doe behind my pond this evening about 4:30, I wasn’t hunting, was watching him from the back door standing in the kitchen. I had just got in from work when my wife spotted him. About 250 yards away from the house, looked through binoculars and picked up my rifle and checked him out, antlers outside his ears, maybe 15” inside spread. That’s the first one I’ve seen show any interest in a doe, just before last light of the day, wife said there’s another deer standing behind the pond motionless, he was watching 7 does at a feeder about 50 yds from the house, looked like a small 6 pt, I think the rut fixing to bust off here.

I e narrowed down where he is coming from. Just have about 1000yds of woods he could be in at any time lol. At this point he’s either stuck in the swamp for the rut or someone got him.

I’ll have my 18” PSA AR15 in 6.5 Grendel with 123gr. Hornady SST and he will be using a Tikka in .270win not sure what ammo. We are hopefully going to get a spot where we can both see 200 yards or more to maybe increase our chances. Hoping the rain moving in will have them on their feet

No luck. Brother saw a 3 point (fork on one side and spike in other) that might have been 10 inch main beam. I saw 2 does about 175 yards trotting through the clear cut. Only 11 permit holders checked in this morning. Which is like half of what was drew. No deer checked out when we left at 10.

First time I’ve seen this one on one of my trail cams, he’s walked out tonight where I’ve been getting a lot of doe pics this evening. I hunt with 2 different 350 Legends, Ruger and Savage, like the Savage waaaaaay better ! Probably going to find the Ruger a new home.

Nice buck. Why is the ruger not doing good?? My sister in law wanted one like mine in x39 but we could not find one in her price range. Member - Fir hooked us up with the rarr 350L for a good $$. I need to convert the x39 over to ar mags.
