Well I made myself perform a ammunition inventory today. I was amazed at what a person can stock pile over several years even if they shoot a lot.
I want to hear from you all. How much do you think is enough and how much makes you look like a FN lunatic.

500... 5000... 10000... 20000... 30000... or more?

This got me curious, so I just counted. I've got somewhere in the realm of 25k rounds, plus what is in magazines, which would add a couple thousand. Is that nuts? I don't know. But that does include my .22lr stash so it's not really as much as it seems.

I don't see needing it for any particular situation, but I do like to shoot guns a lot, so it makes sense to have lots of ammo right?

I have several different caliber weapons and each of them needs ammo. 12ga, .45, 9mm, .380, 7.62x39, 308, 22lr, 5.7x28.

When 22lr comes in packages of 550, that number can get run up quickly.

I'm already sounding crazy so I guess more info won't hurt.

I have 30 30 round Ar mags, 30 26 round 22lr AR mags, 10 20 round AR mags, 10 50 round mags for my PS90, ~ 10 30 round AK mags, and I have no clue on the count pistol magazine wise along with the other misc rifle mags.

I have a tendency to over do everything. But I guess my little obsession with guns is why we started a gun forum. I just love 'em.

Ian, I have 8k or so of .22lr myself....you're not nuts, ammo is like a condom, better to have and not need than need and not have....

I want to have 5k per caliber, I'm getting there slowly but I'm buying not only for SHTF scenario, but ammo is only going to go up in price and will last my lifetime of properly cared for.
