Looking for input. Trying to decide on a Ruger American Ranch with 16 inch barrel or Howa mini action 20 inch barrel. It will be a field rifle.
The weights are similar so that's a wash. I am looking for info from owners about acurracy, how they handle etc.
I have several Ar's in 6.5 G so own multiple magazines, so there is a plus for the Ruger.
    What say you...

If I stumble across a cz 527 in 6.5 G at a reasonable price, it will go home with me.

A 16 inch Ruger would also work.

    I had a Howa Mini 6.5 grendel...was not pleased with the accuracy.....about 1 1/4", 3 shots @ 100yds

If I did another it would be a Ruger....being able to use ar mags is a plus because I have several ar 6.5 grendels.

Guess my gas guns with 5 shot...5/8" groups @ 100yds spoiled me.

I had a Ruger American in 6.5 Grendel. It took AR 6.5 Grendel magazines. No feeding problems with my 5 and 10 round mags. Easily worked up handload that gave me 1" at 100yd. Killed 2 deer with it in Georgia. Sold it to a neighbor along with about 360 rounds of my handloads that wanted a rifle for deer. He's now fired it and is very happy with the accuracy. I never tried factory ammo in it.

Both. I have a little factory ammo and a bunch of loads from my 2 AR's .
My hunting loads range from 100 gr. Partitions to 123 sst's. So we will see.

Here it is...with an older Leupold 3x9 till I find the 2x10 to go on it
Nice fit and finish. Bolt is stiff but that will change with use. Trigger is factory heavy at 5 +. I will shoot first test stuff with factory settings then drop it to 3.5 for use. Very light weight, looking forward to next deer season. Loads and results to follow

Range report. Bolt is starting to slick up. Factory trigber setting sucked but that was expected. Here are some factory and a few handmade for my other Grendels

Additional shots. Several promising loads. This is a deer rifle not a bench gun but...
Just put together a bunch of loads. Will let you know how it goes

2nd range day. Seeing some potential deer loads. Shot all of my 100 gr8. NOS BALLISTIC TIPS and a few others.
120 gr Gold Dots shot well but will not chamber from the mag at listed oals. Work in process. One group went out to 2.5 inches and 4 or 5 hovered just over an inch.
Next range day will be 5 shot groups with what I have until I can find the 100 Nosler BTs.

Found several possible loads. Shooting 3 shot groups since its a deer rifle and if I miss after the 3rd shot "bambi" should get a free pass.
Here are the latest grips. Waiting on a few boxes of Nosler 100 gr8 BALLISTIC TIPS which is my preferred bullet. Very happy with this rifle. Light and accurate.
