Curious what everyone uses to clean and lube their Pistols / Rifles
Are all lubes created equal ?
Are all cleaners basically the same ?
Also do you run your guns wet or slightly lubed ?
I have been using a 50/50 homebrew mix of Mobil 1 10-30w and Marvel Mystery oil for years. It is cheap and makes cleaning AR's & AK's that have been using dirty steel cased ammo a snap! A fellow retired Police Officer who teaches carbine courses for government contractors that are going over to the "Sandbox" said that is all they use. (They are shooting 400-500 rds a day in these courses.)
You can spend a lot more on "snake oil of the month" gun lube, but not get anything much better! Good Luck!

i use auto parts brake cleaner then hoppes #9
then rem oil.
the brake cleaner gets all the oil and gunk out
hoppes #9 because i like the smell
rem oil because of the teflon
When I saw the title, I was trying to remember - astro-glide, and just regular soap - then when I read the body of the post, I realized he was asking about guns. Eds Red, CLP, liquid wrench, etc. whatever the job calls for. Never WD 40 - none near my shop.
Give him a little time , he’ll figure out how to insult someone with out admitting he’s queer. I guess he was just bored and not thinking things through . But look on the bright side , he could of ask what’s the best caliber in a pistol ,9mm or 45acp. We haven’t hashed that one out lately.
Hoppes and rem oil but I’ve used a bit of everything. I don’t obsess about it much just use what I have on hand. I haven‘t used mobile 1 in a while.....thanks for the reminder.
