Field stripped and cleaned the Gold Cup .45. It has the collet bushing which I had never seen IRL. I replaced it with a solid one from EGW.

I hadn't seen the "collet type" before, I wonder what it's design purpose is? It still locks into the slide the same way. Maybe tension centering the barrel instead of fit tolerance centering. Any difference with accuracy results?

From what I found scouring the internet the collet bushing improved accuracy and was last used in the early 80s and so was still used on some early series 80 pistols like mine. There were reports of them breaking and the pistol still worked, with the the broken piece moving around inside the gun tearing things up. Might not ever break, or could be round 500 or 5000, but since I want to shoot mine I played it safe and got a solid one.

This took place over the last 3 days. Since I've gotten back into the .303 British, I've been going through the cast bullets. Up to this point, I'd only been using that particular bullet in the M1889 Swiss, so I need more cast .303 on hand. Over the last 3 days, casting on and off, I've made 1,215 more 303 bullets. A hair under 34 pounds of them. Will probably do more while it's cool casting days.

Picked up a case of 410 shotgun shells. Just happened to stop in a little county store and they had about 25 boxes of 3 inch #8‘s behind the counter.

Found out something nifty. Magpul mag fits nicely in tail hook brace.

Just got back from the gun range. Had a good time as the weather was beautiful! Shot 200 rds. of 22lr, 50 of 38 spl, 100 of 45LC, 50 of 45 acp and 50 of 9mm. I was the only person there which was a bummer because there was nobody to talk to.

Isn't it gemtec that sends a new one when your can gets to X weight?? Very interested in a .22 can. Would be even better if it works on 22 mag!!
You can use any 9mm can for 22mag. I do this all the time.

I have four Gemtech cans and never heard of this???

You can use it on a 22 mag but I haven't seen any subsonic 22 mag ammo. My Dead Air Mask is rated for 22 lr, 22 mag, 17 hm2 and 17 hmr. It is rated for full auto. If the ammo isn't subsonic, you still get the "Crack" sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier. You need to keep the rounds below 1100 fps to be subsonic. I use CCI standard velocity ammo which is rated at 1070 fps and it works great.
