A bitter-sweet day for me. I've sold my WWII M1A1 Thompson submachinegun that I've owned for 42 years and yesterday was my last day firing it before it's cleaned and packed for shipping. It's always been a fun and reliable gun, and yesterday was no exception. Last year I talked with my adult son and daughter. While not "gun nuts", they do come out and shoot some and enjoy me teaching the grand kids to shoot. They said they didn't want the Thompson and for me to sell it and enjoy the $. I bought a Kawasaki Mule with some of the proceeds so my wife and I could take the grand kids on rides. Sunday my wife and I went on our first hour long ride at a friend's place and really enjoyed the mule. I'd never even ridden my ATV through mud, mainly using it for moving brush and logs at my little farm, so going through mud was a new experience. We'd stop, put it in 4WD and lock the rear diff and it would chug right through the mud, never slowing down. We then tried 2 mud areas simply leaving it in 2WD w/o locking the diff, and it still went through fine. Here's my last mag through the TSMG. Shooting cast lead bullets is why the smoke.

Don't worry...still have the Sterling, and because it's lighter with less recoil, it's easier for the kids to shoot.

A BIG thanks to Kendive for video taping the shooting.

After watching the machine gun I'm feeling kinda lame.
On a brighter note, just heard my new rifle is ON THE WAY! Should be here today or tomorrow.

Well I'll be, brother in-law was here last month looking for a Thompson, he is a Class III dealer and a collector, he has a few right now but wants another. I'll tell him he missed that A1. Looks like a nice old gun. You grt ready to sell the Sterling let me know.

42 Years, thats a long love affair. Hopefully the new owner will cherish it as you did.

I've danced with the Galil, a bit heavy but always puts out. Lol

Yes it was a long affair. That MG followed me throughout my Navy career, my tour with the Army (while in the Navy) and my last tour with the Marines (while in the Navy). While I owned it, 2,047 jacketed bullet rounds went through it, 100 plated bullets, and 10,846 cast bullet rounds. It would even feed and function with semi-wadcutters. It came from the Cambridge, Mass Police Dept. A few years after I got it, I met and married my wife. When I met her uncle, he'd retired from that PD and remembered that MG. A couple of months after I bought it, the extractor broke, but nothing else since then. Bore remains bright and shiny with just a slight rounding of the land edges for the first inch or so if you look real carefully. Paperwork from the PD will go to the new owner.

Well guys, I have been busy lately getting parts for this 18" SPR build I am doing. Thanks to several guys for buying some of the guns I have had for sale, I have been able to afford to buy the parts I needed/wanted. This will be one of the most expensive high-end builds I have ever done. The Battle Arms Development receiver set gets here tomorrow. The BCM A5 intermediate buffer system, MFT Battle Link Minimalist Stock, AD RECON-X 30mm mount, and FORTIS SHIFT fore-end grip got here today. The FORTIS SWITCH 556 Rail System 14 gets here tomorrow. Just ordered a LANTAC E-BCG and a few other things. Hopefully, I will have it completely assembled in about 3 weeks. I also sold another pistol today as well. I have a few more to go.

Finished out my budget PSA build today as the last part came to my door step. Now just need an optic.

I have had my .308 AR platform for many years. Never had the ever popular 5.56/.223. So I built it for the kids and wife to shoot. And for me too of course!!!

Less than $500 to put this puppy together. And I'm quite impressed. Well see how the range report goes hopefully soon.

Nice job. Is that a PSA Freedom mid-length upper? If so, you should be pleased.

Yes, Stainless 1:8 Twist mid-length upper. Got it as one of their daily deals with free shipping.

I don't shoot a ton and wanted something that wouldn't break the bank and it seems PSA had the reviews for decent bang for your buck build parts!

This is mostly a rifle to get my children into the rifle world a little more. I thought about a bolt action, but they have their single shot .22 rifles. And plus I wanted something else to play with at the same time. So, it's multi purpose!

    Slightly better pic:

Today, I picked up my Arsenal from Jays, where it was having a Stormwerkz hinge installed. In one word: awesome! In fact, I think I'll sell my Galil to build another.

I'm particularly happy with the angle of the buffer tube, everything lines up perfectly.

Looks great. What's the rear sight mounted on the dust cover?

Thanks! It's actually a dual setting rear sight. One setting is a ghost ring and the other is a more traditional AK sight, but wider than usual. Being mounted on the dust cover (much like a Galil) is actually no issue since the fit of the dust cover is very very tight. This is one feature that addresses the main ergonomic shortcomings of an AK, the other is the Galil style safety, which of course, is brilliant and actually smoother and lighter than the Galil itself.

The sight picture looks great. That safety looks a lot more practical/ergonomic than a traditional AK safety. Enjoy, looks like a fun shooter.
