Was walking Hemi at around 4 today and there in the path was a Grey Fox. Took a look at us and scampered into the timber. Look healthy and was pretty. Kept Hemi from chaseing the fox because I walk her on a leash.

Now to finish the walk. That was a chore because she had to smell every where the fox and been. I have seen very few foxes in the day time. and was more than suprised .That what I said to myself when I saw it and then the next thing was Wonder if it has rabbies? It was acting all right except it was hunting during the day.

I see them during the day at my house all the time. Doesn't mean they are hunting. Foxes may prefer to be nocturnal but seeing them during the day is not a reason for alarm. Here are a couple that chill around my yard...

I have seen a gray and a red in my backyard in the daytime. My dog (fenced) wants to play with them, and the raccoons, and the possums. The one that bothered me was a raccoon that came at me at a fast walk in the daytime. A .45 slug between the eyes stopped him. He had sores all over him. No idea what caused it but I was glad I was armed.

I too have seen a lot of foxes in daytime while rabbit hunting back in PA, they are slick and if they see you, they tend to bolt immediately. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yeah, I've seen them quite often in different places.

I was sitting in my vehicle waiting to order at the Navarre Burger King across from the beach bridge when a rabbit ran through the parking lot. 20 feet behind the rabbit was a fox chasing it. Of course bear, coyote, raccoon, armadillo, possum ect are seen in every neighborhood in Navarre so it was not a big surprise.

There's a pair of foxes that den in the back couple of acres of my place that I see occasionally during the day. The last coon that wanted to charge me also died of lead poisoning.

Here is one of mine. Around 10.30 in the morning and not a care in the world. Walked all over the back sniffing and marking territory.

Thats good picture and a pretty fox. Guess that wasn't so unusual to see a fox here during day light. Guess they are more used to people down here or I lived to far out in the sticks.
