She wants to get skeered she needs to come hog hunting with me and Bruce. Yotes howling 100yds from us as they slowly circle to get the wind,... big boar hogs growling at us from just inside the cotton ... sheet,I even had a damn great horned owl swoopin' around my head, about 20ft up,the other night. All I could picture is them 3 inch talons embeded in the top of my hairless head. OUCH !! I'll tell ya,it is true, they are COMPLETELY silent as they fly. --- SAWMAN

Ever have a bat knock your hat off your head while walking out from the stand after an evening hunt? I want to say I didn't scream like a girl, but I'd be lying.

Spent the rainy morning riding mountain bikes with Jogan and Ian. I used muscles that have never been used before and my cardio is nonexistent. I'll probably be useless the rest of the day.

Nah, but the other guys worked their's hard.

I have a hardtail 29er. It works well until you go over a log with one of your pedals down and the idiot in front of you stopped right on the other side...

Also, you've got to watch out for trees when a wounded bird is hopping down the middle of the trail and you swerve to avoid it

I love mountain biking. I go a lot up in Idaho. Its really tough when you are up in the high elevation, and you dont have any good riding shorts. I couldn't walk straight for a week.

I hit a tree one day when we were coming down the mountain. We were flying and I hit a turn to fast, couldn't make it and smacked my forearm right into a tree. Stopped me in my tracks, bike kept going and I lost both shoes. It sucked.

Fortunately I didn't actually hit the tree. I was going slow enough that I was able to bail right before.

That's good. I didn't get to hurt when I hit. Just a small hematoma-like lump on my arm.
I good friend of mine was by himself one day and crashed, and launched down a steep hill. Ended up slicing his arm really deep and lost the function of a few fingers on his hand. Lost his football scholarship because of it since he couldn't play anymore. Was a bad situation.

Yep, it was a spooky Halloween for me last night too. Boss called about 7 and we discussed the weather coming in. I got worried so I drove out to Ferguson Airport and put the security cables on hanger doors by flashlight. That wasn't a problem but then I remembered I had an airplane in the portable hangar at Coastal with all the wing bolts loose, not tied down, no chocks and I've got all the fasteners loose on the vinyl hanger. So, I drove out there in complete darkness and rain. Had to secure everything while being rained on plus fire up the Toter Home so I could park that in front of the hangar to act as a wind break. Normally I wouldn't be concerned but with the weather, being isolated, can't hear crap except for coyotes howling at something and just experiencing a situation I got to questioning the wisdom of being there. The place being lit up when everyone out here knows there shouldn't be any activity after dark made me feel like I was in the spotlight for something not good.

^^ depending on what you're trying to do, that could be a good or bad thing.

I'm signed up for email alerts from the OCSO, got an interesting one last night. Maybe the fire burned through a sewer line?

I am so glad that daylight savings time is here...all these deer hunters will get out of the woods early now and the hogs will come out earlier and it will be dark before my bedtime...now if the rain would stop!

You fellas need to create a Bikathlon. Shoot targets at unknown locations along a rugged course. Shoot it going out, score it coming back. We used balloons and dirt bikes for this years ago.

That would be awesome, I just don't know of anywhere that we could do something like that.
