I'm not a professional by know means but I believe the barrel is shorter maybe someone else knows better than me. I got it 15 years ago from a retired military officer and he is the one who told me it was a paratrooper model.

Barrel on the "paratrooper" is supposed to be 16.5", that looks like a CAI import Norinco, with standard length barrel.
CAI imported alot of sks's around the 80's and made them into para models by cutting bown the barrel, removing the bayo lug, and altering the magwell to accept ak mags. This however does not appear to be such an animal.
Here is a pic of a Paratrooper model notice the barrel only extends about 4" from the end of the gas tube.

That is clearly a standard length Chinese sks. The paratrooper model was never issued to the military and was made exclusively for the US market by Norinco and China North Industries. They also produced a shortened version without the bayonet that was called The Cowboy.

That's a fine gun,that's the one I would like to own.i got 4500 rounds of 7.62x39 and don't own a gun that shoots it,man that's crazy.i am referring to the pic of the real paratrooper!
