Any ideas why a Sig P238 (.380) locked back from an empty mag....would go into battery when inserting a full mag...putting a round in the chamber? Or is that normal for that weapon....don't seem to be an issue with any other of my semi's....any help would be appreciated.

That's pretty normal with semi-auto pistols that have some rounds through them, usually after about 500-1000 rounds through a new gun, If you put the mag in pretty hard, it will jump the slide lock and send it forward, picking up a round and putting one in to the chamber. Super normal.
