I got up this morning, turned on the TV and George Steponallofus was being rude to Speaker Mike Johnson. What a little twerp George is.
I put a violin on FB Marketplace and said “includes bow and case”. I got a message that they deleted the ad because it violated THEIR community standards. All I can figure is their bots picked up the word “bow” as a weapon. Idiots.
I wish I could vote for Florida congressman Corey Mills. That guy is a leader. His work in N.C. has been phenomenal.
What’s going to happen to the insurance industry after they get done paying for this latest disaster? CAN they pay for it? What’s going to happen to our premiums? There may come a time that we are forced to go without insurance.
I’ve noticed the price of non-essentials (particularly guns & classic cars) seem to be coming down, probably because everyone is spending all their money on inflated essentials.
    Just random, rambling thoughts.

Stephanopoulos is the biggest waste of oxygen on this planet. A true Dem political hit man with no morals, and as expected, a progressive hypocrite. His true colors were in full display when he attacked women and critics and threatened them with (political) suicide during the Bill Clinton fiasco. Ever watch his interview with Rep Nancy Mace during which she was speaking about her rape experience. He was brutal! "Me too", yeah right.

After dad retired he bought and ran a retail business that centered on discretionary spending. As the economy turned he explained it simply as this, we sold things people couldn’t eat. As the cost of living went up discretionary spending went down.

The problem with that is unless you have your house paid off your mortgage company requires you to have insurance.

And forced insurance from your mortgage company is cripplingly high. Ask me how I know..
I am working hard to build up a Rothe IRA I transferred from previous job using high dividend stocks! My goal is in 5 years when I'm 59.5 I can use it to pay off the mortgage on my house and self-insure! If I had all I paid in insurance over the years, I probably could have paid my mortgage off twice!

You can't totally get rid of insurance - or should I saw you shouldn't. You can't get rid of wind/hail/etc but you really should have liability. Some "lawyer" slips and falls on your property and sues you could potentally lose the house.

My homeowner insurance for my somewhat modest home was nearly $5000 for 2024, and I don't want to even think about the next renewal in January. My home has been paid off for several years but I wouldn't dare to consider self-insuring, but the policy cost definitely takes a big bite out of my retirement income.
