OK, looking for ideas to purchase my next firearm. It needs to be in a caliber I currently reload for due to the ammunition situation we are in.

    So here are my options.

    Rifle: 30-30, .308, 30-06, 45-70, .223/5.56, 12 GA.

    Handgun: 9mm, .45, .38 Special, .357.

Looking for under $1,000 for complete setup. For example, if a rifle, I need the optics included in that $1K.

What would your next purchase be in the above calibers? Just looking to get ideas for myself. I have all the basics covered and this would be a "just because" firearm purchase. I have most platforms and needs covered when it comes to firearms. What would be a cool yet practical firearm to own in your opinion. Again, this is just to get ideas floating around that I might not be thinking of.

Springfield EMP 4" ccc in 9mm. Always wanted an EMP and this is the one I'd love to have.

Its pricy but FNH FNX . 45 tactical
15+1 in a man sized caliber and pistol .
    A snubby .38 for CC.

    A 3rd gen S&W like the 659 here on the forum. 59series or 69series.

Bolt gun in your choice of caliber.

Check out Henry's Long Ranger for something different.

    Picked these up this am...

G40 10mm and G41 .45ACP. The G40 will get a Deltapoint Pro ASAP, will have to mill the G41 slide. Both will be hog getters and maybe a deer.

BL price was $558 and $480... couldn't resist.

A Single Action Army in 38/357 or 45APC (maybe 45 Colt cyclinder for future use or value). There's a big fun factor and they can be easy on ammo while you enjoy the load/unload manipulations. Variety of barrel lengths and model/grip types. Adj sight kill the authentic look IMHO. By example I have a stainless Ruger Vaquero with birdshead grip in 45ACP.

Falling block reproductions in 45-70 is in you range used, new start around $1100. Another fun added, old style firearm you can take you time with and you can stretch the legs on these and challenge your self with iron sights. Precision peeps are available but a bit spendy.

Another 45ACP is a 16 inch 1911 with a shoulder stock that attaches to the grip/frame. Charles Daly iI think, well under $1K. Being a 1911, the eccentric goodies might be swapped to another better foundation 1911, IDK.

Shadow systems elite 9mm is on my list. If I had an extra grand burning a whole that is what I would pick up (but not in gold).

I'd go Marlin 336 in .35 Rem for the next Bear season.
Even adding a Skinner Peep, still looking at under $700.

So adding in the dies and some brass...still ain't a bad thang ;)

A 308Win bolt gun IF YOU RELOAD.
These guns will do pretty much everything. I could list (the LONG list of reasons) but your a smart guy.
Pick your favorite bbl profile ( would suggest semi heavy profile ),mag system (NO BLIND MAGS),add a bolt throw lever as needed (wanted),stock (as needed (wanted),threaded muzzle, etc, etc, etc.
You got everthing for YOUR alpplication.
Need more (respectful) advice,PM me. --- SAWMAN
ADDED: I see you reload. Check the Hodgdon site for their H4895 60% loads and the Trail Boss loads.
Gives the 308 much more flexability than most realize.

I don't know if you're into speculating on value but I think Colt 1911s may become worth much more in a few years because of them being bought by CZ.
