Having looked deeply into that case, I blame the LAPD crime lab for that. I think Gaetz’s case was most likely a hit piece and Rittenhouse‘s case was brought because if they didn’t the cities might burn again.

IIRC they didn’t have enough evidence to take Gaetz to trial. DoJ abandoned the case. I watched the videos from Rittenhouse and while it was messy, it looked like self-defense to me.
