    This shot was taken by one of the club's premier astrophotographers, Bob Gaskin. This is some of the best photography I've seen taken by amateurs. It helps he uses a $10K telescope on a $10K mount with a $10K CCD astronomy camera as well as vast knowledge of photo processing and the programs to do it.

    This is several hours of exposure taken through several different filters that allow only light emitted by nebula and stars. The large object is the Orion Nebula or M-42. the fainter object is also a nebula called the "Running Man".

    He shoots in Destin. You see so many stars because of the long exposure time. It brings out the faint things you cannot see with your eye. Just look through a telescope or even binoculars some time, you'll be amazed how many stars you can see.
