Less than 60 days to a major election and no panic buying. I'm Surprised!

The topic was originally about the fact that right now, with a major election happening less than 60 days from now. The typical panic buying isn't happening as has happened in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020.

I'm curious as to why. Both economically and politically.

Is the market tapped out? Because as I previously said, FFLs aren't having a good time right now. Distributors are drowning in product. Manufacturers are extending rebates and sales in an attempt to move product.

Is it solely economic?

Economically I think people are tapped out and saving money for other things (if they have excess funds). Or they don't have money for firearms.

Also, consider the fact that from Sandy Hook onwards, it has been panic buy / gun craze, panic buy / gun craze, x3-4 times more when you include the Rona and the like. With essentially zero new legislation.

So in addition I believe most gun people who have been in it since say oh 2010 have what they want. I've panic bought primers and powder in 2016 when I had no more room for ammo, I have boxes of 30rd mags, enough for my kids and my kids kids. I have lowers, uppers, parts, pieces, you name it.

I would love to panic buy something right now, but without really going off the reservation and buying something I have no earthly use for... there is nothing left to buy. Sure, you can always buy ammo (now I essentially only buy to replace yearly expenditures), but even then.

Granted if Kackaling K "wins", I'm sure we'll see another wave of Evil Black Rifle buying... maybe magazines too... but heck, if anyone hasn't bought it in the last 4-12 years, I don't know what to tell you.

Sure, there will always be the young'ins who couldn't buy back when, but everyone else...? They either can't buy it ($$$$) or don't feel the need to buy it (got plenty).

We stock up on non-perishable food but do the “buy what you normally eat”, so we are always eating the stuff we bought 3-6 months ago.

Then it never expires…

Honestly, there are very few non-perishable foods my family eats day-to-day. If we were going to start prepping, it would be a separate expense and we would have to find some place to store it. Between my competitive shooting hobby and my wife’s sewing hobby, every spare nook and cranny in our house is stuffed with ammo, parts, fabric, or patterns!

Hell, my wife has four sewing machines and an embroidery machine with spare parts for them all. That stuff takes up some space!

Here's an idea, if you are set at this point, shift to buying non-perishable food and then when they get ready to expire, donate them to the area food pantries.

Or better idea, rotate your stock. Don't just buy food to not be eaten. Buy food to be eaten and just have enough on hand that if something bad happens, you have enough for the lean times too.

I made one dumb panic purchase and that was back in 2012 when Obama got reelected. I paid $999.99+ tax for a DPMS Oracle because at the time I had one AR and everyone was worried about an AR ban. That and with all the panic buying going on, AR and AK pattern rifles dried up quickly. Ended up selling it years later for like $500 and learned my lesson. If I ever think a legitimate 2A threat is looming I’ll probably by a couple thousand dollars worth of PSA freedom kits and call it a day.

That's ok I paid $700 for a CMR30 during covid. Just had to get it. It's OK. It's a great shooter. I'll just have to shoot the hell out of it for the next 30 years, lol.

A friend who is retired Chitcago PD said that his son who still lives there is a member of IBEW and he said all the rank and file will vote Trump, although the bean counter bosses won't. I think there will be a lot of "closet" Trump voters who won't admit to it for a variety of reasons. That is the unknown factor.

Food for thought, if you are barely getting by, then you will go under if harris and waltz go to the white house. Many folks are in the same boat , what will happen if these two get power will be the end of life as we now know it . It will be disastrous beyond a normal person’s comprehension.

Unfortunately this is how "they" win. Tons of people are in the silent majority. But the media and collectivists are following a very effective playbook (Saul Alinsky, etc.) where most folks intentionally never realize they are being disenfranchised by 1000 cuts.
