You should be happy with a Tikka T3 lite. If you want your guest to be comfortable with the recoil, go with the .243 or 7mm-08. I would expect 1/2"moa with handloads

Its probably not a large enough caliber unless your strictly doing headshots, but I just landed a savage tactical .17HMR bolt gun that is a pure blast to shoot. It has the accutrigger and shoots absolutely flat to 200 yds. It also has a threaded barrel, so you can make it very quiet if need be (wink)

Would be a fun one but I want it to work on hogs if needed. And possibly Bigfoot if he decides to show himself

I've heard good things about Marlin's new X7 line of bolt actions and the X7Y comes in .243, 7mm-08 and .308. I think first you should decide for sure what caliber you want and then start looking at all the models of bolt actions that come in the caliber. There's a lot of good options out there, you just have to figure out which one works for you!

I just picked up a Ruger GSR from Miles at Trade Winds. Davidson's online store has them on sale. It is a little over your 700 limit but not a lot; $100.

I enjoy my 308 but after this last ammo scare I wish I would have kept my 7-08. No one hoards that caliber so it easier to find.

I still want to try a 260 or one of the 6.5s one day.

i was looking at ballistics of the 260 and its a good round. i would take one of those too for the same reason. easier to find ammo. not that it matters much. i always end up buying 500 pieces of brass and im good forever
