Hurricane season is here

To all my fellow Patriots in the Panhandle, it’s looking like next weekend is going to be landfall. Thoughts will be with you guys and gals.
Being Sunday today, it’s not too early to start paying closer attention and get your storm plans activated.

It will be a few more days before we know. Weather underground tropical has no listing of anything special. But weather looks like this down that way.

Mikes Spaghetti Models says the below. No talk of a hurricane just yet, but it is possible.

2. Northwestern Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:
Disorganized showers and thunderstorms located over the western
Caribbean Sea and portions of Central America are associated with a
very broad area of low pressure. Environmental conditions appear
favorable for gradual development of this system during the next
several days. A tropical depression is likely to form while the
system moves slowly northward across the northwestern Caribbean Sea
and Gulf of Mexico through the end of the week. Regardless of
development, this system is expected to produce heavy rains over
portions of Central America during the next several days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.

The stuff that comes through the gap into the Gulf this time of year is not good, then must go somewhere, so, grab your socks and hang on.
Gulf is very warm, so it can get real bad, real quick. The deal is there is no real path, it will come as it gets pushed or pulled. Seen them turn, go in a circle or reverse, leave then come back, so only thing we can do is prepare and just watch.
First one I remember was 1952, when the FL NG came got us out at night in a duce and a half truck, in the Glades.

Between the saints game, I stocked up on rum, snuff, groceries, feed and hay for the farm animals. Gassed up my truck. Bought two 30 gal drums so I can fill with diesel for the genset. Charging the genset batteries now. I haven't cranked it all year. Tuesday we are scheduled to bring the 1 ship at the port around to the hurricane moorings that the port installed for the blue origin ship.

They are now finally plotting possible pathways for it. I am showing the best computer plots for me. Some of them show more of paths coming toward pensacola than others

If this hits our area it’ll be the first for us since we moved here a couple years ago. Other than all the basic obvious stuff like non perishable food, water, batteries and storm panels, any suggestions or tips from you hurricane veterans?

if your freezers have any empty space, fill them with containers full of water so if the power goes out, that will help keep everything safe a little longer. If you don’t have a generator get one.

Plan was to do a whole house generator this winter. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll have much luck getting something big enough to run the house demands and get it usable in time for this one.
