Short barreled shotguns, under 18", require an NFA stamp. If you are looking for a non-NFA shotgun, then you'll find those all day long at just about any LGS. Both the Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870 are very good entry level pump shotguns. I have a 870 tactical that I love and have not had any issues with at all. If you're asking for which is best, then you'll get everyone's "opinion" on what is best, nothing definitive. The best advice in these situations is to go check them out for yourself. Handle them, manipulate the actions and shot them if possible and get the one that you can handle and operate the easiest/cleanest/fastest/etc... Either the 500 or the 870 can be had for under $300 at most LGS.

I think this is awesome advice for firearms. Everyone has their favorites, ones that go with their natural point of aim. You don't know what is going to be yours until you personally handle a few. You may decide you don't want a pump after handling a few and opt to go for something like a 11-87

Those aren't NFA since they are made that way and not modified. They are considered "others" I believe, or maybe pistols.

I thought he was talking about the red head!

    Not NFA?!?!? What?!?
Oh no, too many guns, not enough money or time. Lol.
I'm seriously gonna look into one.

Folks, am I missing something here? Did folks know that on a pistol, 60% of the grip is the off hand? Same with a short shotty. what wrist breaking?
