The round pictured has a .50 (BMG) projectile. It has a standard compression primer. The entire thing goes into the chamber. The "case" does not extract to the rear and does not combust (or vaporize) when fired. It is actually a up-scaled design of a cartridge that shot .22, 9mm, .30 and .45. Handguns and rifles were commercially produced. Machine guns were also built, tested and fired with success using the round pictured.

WHAT IS IT and who designed it and the firearms that fired this type of round?x503.jpgX502.jpg

    Enjoy,

Top pic is looking at the forward end or tip of the projectile.

We are half way there. Gentle Wolf is correct that it is a Tround type cartridge. It is loaded and ejected sideways into a rotating cylinder which is externally supported except at the feed and eject areas. Introduced in the 50's. The handgun was a magazine fed revolver!

The firearms are named after the designer. Who is it?
