the duracoat turned out great, 3 coats.
found an old barrel I chopped and crowned for slugs and probably this summer I will thread for choke tubes.
the original barrel is for them high-speed birdies that seem to be everywhere in the fall around here.
I decided to give it to him before his b-day, so he can go after them gobblers with his dad and I.

we are quite surprised at the pattern the chopped barrel holds with 3" nitro-turkey #5 shot.

thanks sean for the deal !!!!

    That thing is awesome!

Hope that there are many memories that attach to it as you guys hunt together. My grandfather gave me my first shotgun and rifle and I've still got them today, 30 years later and let me son and daughters use them when we go hunting together.

looks like you have about covered it....
my next attempt would be to disasemble both 500's and keep the parts separated.

then assemble the troubled receiver with the internals from the working receiver.

that would prove if any parts were lost or broke.....I kinda doubt anything is broke from how
    you explained your work.

at this point that's how I would troubleshoot without it being in my hands

I appreciate it John, just figure it would muddy up both threads. LOL. I had to boot up my main PC since I hate typing long drawn out posts with this pad. I'll post my hypothosis on there in a minute or so and see if anything rings a bell to anyone.
