Rut may be coming in early here, scraps and rubs showing up everywhere, check out the time stamps on this next group of pictures, doe comes in, doe smells bucks from earlier this morning, buck smells the doe, buck strolls in…all in a minute or two
Yep, same at my club. Gotta remember deer don't have internet they have to do things the old fashioned way!

The rut is the sametime every year. The moon does not change it. The weather does not change it. Every year sametime

Wrong sir, I’ve been a deer hunter for over 50 years. The rut does not happen the same time every year. At least not in south Alabama. I’ve killed rutting chasing bucks before Christmas, all through out January and seen the rut come in after deer season was over here and on in to late February. Even see swollen bucks chasing first of March. I grew up in the woods and have always been observant of wildlife, it still amazes me that Mother Nature does not follow a specific guide line on deer reproduction. Whether you believe me or not doesn’t matter to me, just stating the facts that I know to be true in my area.

Check out the time stamp on these pics, just a few minutes and lover boy shows up, the rut is busting off earlier this year. Saw a 4 point chasing a doe this morning. Scrapes being worked with a frenzy that I figured would be mid to late January before showing up. You just never know…

Lucky score tonight at local Walmart, three box limit, paid $17 per box for this Federal premium ammo, haven’t hunted with a 30-30 in many years now but went ahead and got three boxes. Got a Marlin 336 and a Winchester 94 and a Savage 340-C in 30-30, all have piled up deer years ago when I carried them to the woods.

Got a fine single shot 30-30 w/ 4x scope that's our guest gun. My bride's sister has been wearing me out wanting to buy it. Nope!!

Tired of these foggy mornings, started my vacation this week and don’t go back to work till January 4th, have to take the vacation now or lose it, can’t roll it over to 2022. Too warm and too foggy, terrible deer hunting weather, I don’t even bother to go in the afternoons since it’s been so warm.

Is it a handi rifle? I still occasionally hunt with several handi rifles , got 5 or 6 in various calibers.

Mine seems to be a morning only plot. Not seeing squat in the afternoons.

I bought a Ruger ranch rifle in 350 Legend just before deer season went out this past season, have yet to shoot a deer with it, it’s got a 16” barrel. It’s like toting a Daisy BB gun, lol

I also bought a Savage Axis in 350 Legend with 18” barrel at the same time , it’s still in the box, just in case I didn’t like the Ruger. I’ve pissed a lot of money away on firearms, bad addiction you might say

Wednesday morning of this week, fog was terrible as usual, I was approximately 120 yds from this boy, couldn’t see him or feeder but the camera captured him. Could only see about 30-40 yds at time he walked up. I would have passed on him anyway, but would like to have laid eyes on him

Got a pic of this buck a couple days ago. There were 3 of them together.

Sorry for the bad pic...took the pic of the computer screen with my cell phone.

There must be some mineral our deer are not getting. A large majority of the deer we see are spindley horned. Gotta solve this mystery. We also see alot of deer with busted off horns during rut.
Can't eat the horns anyway, butt..... I look at this every morning while having coffee - the bride's 8pt buck from last year...
