Im looking to purchase a shot timer. Mainly to measure my draw to first shot. There are several available, but any better than the others? Id like to find one that that will work with dry fire if possible, anybody have experience with a dry fire shot timer?

When you say "dry fire timer" are you looking for one that has a start and stop beep or one that will record the sound of the hammer/striker falling?

FWIW, I use a CED7000 that has all the functionality I need and a reasonable price.

One that has random start and records the hammer/striker falling. Not just a stopwatch timer

I think you may have to go with a Mantis system or something similar to get that, but from long (long) experience I can say that it is remarkably accurate to set a par time (start and stop beep if you're not familiar) on your regular $100 timer. You will know if you pulled the trigger under the wire or not for less money.

I've never seen one sensitive enough to pick up a hammer fall and I I've been around quite a few. If you're looking for affordable and durable, I've had a Pact Club Timer since the late 80's and it still works like new.

I have a DAA Shotmaxx 2 watch that can pickup a hammer fall due to its proximity to the gun but not sure about striker. Its no longer available though. Any shot timer in the market will work using the par time (2nd beep) for dry fire sessions. Pact and CE have been around a long time and their products are solid. AMG Lab Commander is also worth a look. I like using their timer in matches
