VENTING ABOUT EFFING LOWES

i went to lowes today. they have now installed all new checkouts, ALL SELF CHECKOUT. there is no choice now, at least in the front of the store. i didnt look at the lumber checkout. i dont understand why they think i want to do the job for them. but i told the manager that i would be going to homedepot now. he said they are doing it too. then i will go to halls hardware and pay the extra price. and that is what i will do whenever possible. i hate this self checkout stuff. we are paying to do the job for them. and it will result in lost jobs and not one cent in cost savings for us. i have decided that if i do have to shop there, and i know i will sometimes, i will simply tell the person standing there that i have a learning disability and cannot check myself out. maybe if enough folks refused to do it they would think again.

Too bad you don't have a Hood's near you. No self check out. Better prices & quality on tile, cabinets, dimensional lumber, plumbing fixtures, doors, trim, etc.

Your post seems contradictory... you complain about having to check yourself out, at no savings to you, but then you say you will pay more at another location so you can be checked out by another person.

i dont see it as contradictory. He is willing to pay a little more to prove a point and not let the computer age be used for profit and job deletions. If more people stood up for their beliefs we would have a stronger voice...easy way out and free money has an incompetent person leading our country. Its kind of like downsizing our government jobs, at a lower level mind you, to be able to afford to send billions of dollars to other countries so they can build a corrupt government just like we have!!

I hated the self checkout when it was new but to be honest I prefer them now. The employees at these stores seem pretty degenerate these days with their neck tats and all. Id rather avoid them.

BMO has some good stuff, esp windows for cheap (you have to look through them yourself) - not sure about the lumber, they are helpful people for a lot of things.

The definitely don't have HD / Lowes selection of stuff however; most doors, windows, cabinets, and such. No hardware, etc.

Just know what you want before you go.

I also like pumping my own gas and getting cash from an ATM.

Just remember to put your shades on just before you checkout. All the self-checkouts (including walmart) have cameras and probably sell your image (facial recognition) along with your name and address obtained from your credit card when you use it. js

I have walked out of a Lowes before when they didn't have any available cashiers. If they indeed go to a "zero cashier" model I too will take my business elsewhere. Like someone else said - I will NOT support this brave new world of AI, robots and "touchless" BS.

They also have software watching you, I know for a fact. Had 4 of the same items, threw 3 in bag, scanned 1 - 4 times. And beep, beep, beep alarm. Machine locks and Supervisor was called.

I do self checkout as most cashiers cannot help you anyway and I do not like talking to them.. Crestview Lumber is cheaper than Lowes on a lot of things

The problem I see with self checkouts is: how do you handle price discrepancy, coupons, mil/leo discount, scratch and dent haggle, ect

Depends on what you have or what you're doing. Gift card or anything thrown in the mix and a cashier can get you out faster
