Ya"ll can certinly take this for what it's worth.
I have been in groups of military personnel when we were briefed directly by VietNam era repatriated POW's. For me,four different men at four different times. Three were Naval officers, one was a USA enlisted man. All between 1976 and 1981. One of the Naval officers later became my C.O. at S.E.R.E. School. Not once did any one of them mention that any POW acted inappropriately during their time in captivity.
At that time I didn't have a clue who McCain was. We did not ask any questions re. the subject. --- SAWMAN

I meant I just found it, and have not gone researching on it, but many of the details I have read before, the fire on the ship when he screwed up, are true, and verifiable.

and the thread is about McCain, I thought it was a good place for it, and time for it to be resurrected again, in light of the current events...

Oftentimes, I try to validate things before I share them with others, I do think it is very much the responsible thing to do, especially when it concerns the denigration of the character and morals of others, who are not present to defend themselves against such accusations.

The wet start thing is rumor that was refuted years ago. In fact, Politifact rates it as "Pants on fire": http://www.politifact.com/punditfac...blame-john-mccain-deadly-1967-fire-aboard-us/

I think in generall, its terrible to make such an accusations against a combat veteran and a POW if there is no proof. When I went though SERE school.....we got lots of talks from instructors definitely in the know, and if McCain was a bad POW, I'm pretty sure he would have been trotted out as such during a classroom lecture. As SAWMAN has said, such accusations have never been made to my knowledge, within that community.

everything is is relative to what you personally believe...

I have spent(wasted) hrs researching other topics, until, I was convinced, and found proof that no one refuted satisfactorily to me, and posted it, on another forum...

the others in the thread, that were convinced otherwise, did not change their minds, even though they could not refute the evidence....

I don't do that anymore, but when I find something interested, food for thought, I post it...it was not meant to malign Mccain, but to prompt others to think for themselves..

nothing, is ever what it appears to be on the surface, take it for what it is worth.
