ok guys... I am thinking of doing a 22 to begin with. My concern is how close are the steel targets we will shoot with the rifle. I do not shoot my steel very close with a 22 because it comes back pretty bad.

You won't want to shoot a 22lr pistol (as far as steel targets are concnerned), but a 22lr rifle will be fine. The steel rifle targets will be at least 40+ yards and are angled to deflect the splatter downward.

We're a-thinkin' of putting the steel at distances from 75 to 125 yards. Surely your little 22's can do that since the box says that the ammo is dangerous up to
one and one-half miles! Besides the lack of recoil will allow you real quick follow-up shots in the most unlikely circumstance that you miss and that the little ol' bullet don't make the target go "clang." We'll have plenty of other targets for you to perforate. Are you using iron sights or optics?

No idea. I don't really do 22's. I've probably fired 200 rounds of it in my life. Just not a huge kick. Haha. Get it?

    You guys are funny. Lol

I trust my 1911 45 for protection...the 22 will be target only. But who knows, I may wind up with something else. About to list my mini 1911 .380 fi Model D for trade on some sites.

No, I thought you would be shooting a .22LR rifle. It's fine, good to have one with which to train cheaply, especially if it has the same controls and manual of arms as your Go-to home defense rifle. BRING IT ON !!!1

Are the matches going to be turning into a standard 2 gun match or is this just for this month?

Just for this month. We are, in actuality International Defensive Pistol Association not the U.S. Carbine Association, which runs two gun matches exclusively. We will do this occasionally, maybe three times a year with other side matches as Back Up Gun and Shotgun thrown in as well.
