They were a big hit in the north when I was growin up, but seldom see them down here. I would like to have a couple myself.

Yea we used them for shooting crows and that can = some loooong shots. I would like the carbine kit to go along with a few barrels but they are expensive today.

yes, they are pricey these days...
I have a 45/70 in 12" for hunting whitetail in swamp bottoms.
I will be working up a load with trailboss and 300gr rem sjhp.

a bang-flop is in order !!!:eyebrows:

Go to gunbroker and search thompson contender .223 and look at the custom one , I almost hit the buy it button had to close browser to keep from pullin the trigger, man o man it is Beautiful and really not tooo bad at 1250.00

I have one and a few barrels (.22, .223, 7mmTCU, .357 MAX). I don't shoot it much but it's a blast to play around with

I love my contender, both my brothers shoot contenders too. I have a .30-30 Win barrel and a .221 Fireball barrel... took a 6-pt with the .30-30 some years back. With ammo and reloading supplies as they are, I'm getting back into shooting my T/C pistols.

221 fireball, what a cartdridge, we had the remington pistol, that was super accurate.

It's quite fun in the 10" barrel... I love it. Brass is getting hard to find at an affordable rate... but I have a couple hundred on hand.

Thompson Contenders

I have Two of them and barrels for 22, .223, 44mag/spl, 38,357,and 357 MAX.
Lots of fun, Ive got to get back into them.

Had a Contender, sold it and then got an Encore. Have a 10 inch barrels in 357 Maximum & 243 calibers & a 7 inch barrel for the 7mm-08 (my favorite). Great on deer and hogs.

The 7mm-08 has just a bit of recoil (three folks have split their foreheads with the scope)

I am going to have to buy one, and thinking strongly on the custom carbine on broker? It is a beaut but don't know about 1250 + shipping = 1300.00 but it is all custom . .Any input on the differance in encore and regular contender ?
I can't remember much, but seem to recall some concerns with encore over reg when they came out.

I don't know what a .223 LOUD is, but stand anywhere near dead-bird when he shoots his .223 short barrel Contender and you will agree, it's LOUD! In fact, he enjoys tormenting me with it...something about me shooting my short barrel AR uppers on the same firing line without a suppressor.

lots of sites have classifieds for t/c's all orders for new has to come directly from distributors, I have been told.
last week gander had 2 used contenders 1 in .223 and 1 in 44mag....they were being sold as encores until a friend of mine
gave the counter help some school'n..........:yo:
