I would do some research. I have heard that refinishing could possibly affect value. Of course they are his to do with as he wants.

I'll second Mark Mason at "Deep South Bluing" (850) 304-3187. Just off Avalon blvd. He does both. He doesn't take cards though.

I've owned a rifle that Deep South Bluing restored and it looked like new. Great bluing, all the internals looked appropriate in color for age without rust. You could tell they hadn't been hit with a grinder or wire wheel. Time was taken to clean the metals properly. Same for the wood the finish was impressive. My dad had a couple of shotguns tuned on, he did a great job there too.
