I looked a little. Apparently one needs a hazmat permit which involves training/certifying to get. Don’t try to sneak it by not saying what’s inside. If detected by instruments or explosive smelling dog, you could be in deep trouble.

Got the central 3 ton AC replaced in my shop, two days of tear out and then replacement in 100+ at 95% is now 76 at 50%. Gave cool a smoke test by repairing my Wheelie Bird trap by adjusting the limit and peddle switches both were out of adjustment, now works like magic. Getting prepared for a dove shoot and outing on Saturday. I has been a while since I have shot, with the traps down and it being hot as blazes in the shop building.

Did my move prep, guns and ammo, load out to the neighborhood annual bird shoot and cook out. I bring a field repair kit with tools, cleaning rods, patches solvents, etc. Plus extra boxes of 410s, 28s, 20s, and 12s. for the folks that might leave their ammo at home or have a simple fix that needs to be done.

B52 loaned me his Enfield front sight adjusting kit. Got my 1950 Canadian Long Branch No 4 sighted in for windage. I do have some difficulty with the front sight post disappearing into the black of the target affecting the elevation. This No 4 has a Mk3 rear sight. It provides for 100yd sight adjustment increments, with no adjustments in between, so precise sighting in is not always easy unless one has a variety of different front sight heights to try.

Next project: Can 32 caliber hollow base wadcutters shoot accurately in the 310 Cadet? Normally the Cadet uses an outside lubed heeled bullet…a bit labor intensive to load…you have to outside lube the bullets after seating and then let dry with the cartridge standing upright. Hoping the hollow base will expand enough to shoot accurately and not lead the bore. There is no data for such a combination so start low. I’m starting with Bullseye thinking that quicker burning powder will provide enough pressure to force the hollow base to press against the rifle bore.

A test today with one shot each of 2.5,3.0,3.2 & 3.4 gr Bulleye showed the bullets going straight with no keyholes and no noticeable leading. At 3.4 gr I heard the bullet crack. At 2.5 gr there were marks on the case showing not enough pressure to seal the case in the chamber. Tomorrow testing for accuracy.

Took the 20 and 28 ga 525 Citorori guns down, cleaned and oiled the safeties, triggers, extractors. The three months or so without the AC, did a job on the old oil. Had some sticky situations at the bird shoot Saturday. Only thing to do is disassemble then clean the old oil/varnish off and re-oil with a thin coat.

    32 cal hbwc’s in a 310 Australian Martini Cadet

At 2.5 gr Bullseye I got accuracy and point of impact same as my cast heeled bullet loads, but I didn’t have to hand lube the outside lubed heeled bullets so that made reloading easier. I did however put the hbwc bullets in a cup and swirl them in a few drops of Lee liquid alox. I figured going down a rifle bore was asking a lot of those little bullets and their small amount of factory lube, so I added some extra lube help. No leading seen.

All loads with higher charges of Bullseye gave larger groups and differing point of impact. Although they hit nose first, I speculate that hbwc can only handle so much pressure and velocity.

I managed to stock up on these 32 cal hbwc when I found lots for sale on the forum recently. Hornady stopped making them years ago. Speer makes a small run of them every few years.

The jagged hole pic is my round nose cast heeled bullets. The clean cut holes are the hbwc. I got the proper mold from Australia about 20 years ago. For the curious, the hbwc are .314. The largest diameter of the heeled cast is .323. Yes I adjusted the windage to be centered. 25 yd distance.

Tomorrow confirming the 2.5 gr load, comparing Hornady vs Speer and CCI vs Winchester primers.

Got the bottom metal fitted to the 358 Win conversion's stock. The internal edges scraped to remove the sanded in oil finish over runs. The action is now final fitted to the stock. The new Timney Trigger requires that the trigger area of the stock be relieved a wee bit more than I initially allowed, to get to the final fit of the trigger for proper function.

Got this done while waiting for the code inspectors to arrive for the new central HVAC system. Inspection result was all good. Nice to have AC back in my shop.
