Responded to a Facebook post yesterday about some primers, and bullets. Ended up meeting up with the guy this afternoon and this is what I ended up with. Primers are unopened, as are most of the boxes. I opened the silvertip box to check them out. Pretty cool find! I was gonna make subsonic 300blk rounds but I may just keep them as a display item. I suspect everyone of these boxes are at least 30years old or more and none have been used. Looking online I cannot find the old school silver tips to reference price anywhere. I’ve seen a few articles where they demanded stupid money per round. Anyone have any idea? Should I load them up as planned or leave them unmolested? TIA...

Those have got to be at least 49, maybe 50 years old. I’m 50 and do not recall that packaging from my 20’s.

I don’t recall when Winchester Western split up but I’m near sure it was before I was in my 20’s.

If there is a lot # I would ping Winchester Customer service with an email. Even without a lot number they can tell you when those were last made with those graphics and company name.

    cool find!

Hopefully someone will come along with a good idea of the dates of this stuff. I agree it is pretty old and in great shape for its age. If not I will resort to shooting Winchester an email.

"Western" owned Winchester. Silvertip Cartridges hit the market in 1939 so components followed that. The double cannelure is interesting, different cartridge use?

I’d suspect the double cannelure would be for different cartdrige use also. I’m still baffled as to how old they may be. The other boxes appear to be from the same era. Now the question do I open them and use them or do I keep them fordisplay in my war-room? I’m torn... I’ll bet JJ can add some insite on the age... he was shaping river rocks as projectiles before lead was invented so he should know
