That should save taxpayers $. If you calculate the costs both ways then add in the cost of "build back better" you will see how it works.Federal government may provide funds to demolish then rebuild Robb Elementary School. Biden suggested to a local lawmaker on Sunday that the federal government may provide funds to raze Robb Elementary School, where 21 people were shot and killed on Tuesday.
This gesture accomplishes what exactly?

I have no problem exercising my first amendment rights. I also understand my opinions are rarely sugar-coated, and just plain hurt the feels of others. I try to self-moderate, to a point, simply because I understand sites like GCGF could be punished "legally" and monetarily if things get too far out of line.People have a right to judge and voice an opinion as it assists in holding responsible folks accountable.
My issue with these incidents is the vetting of information prior to public release. Many times media outlets will take someone's word and spread it without any vetting. We see over and over again bad info being passed on. People get mad and suspicious when the PIO says "no comment" and that's partly because once you announce something you can't get it back.
As more unfolds the situation certainly looks bad for the Incident Commander, who at this point based off what I'm seeing, felt the best response at the time was to contain. Then again, what he knew and did not know remains to be seen. What specific facts were known to him during his decision making?
I learned a long time ago to wait a good spell before taking a position on an incident as I know info is going to change, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.
In response to the ad for Guardians... I've personally trained them... you get a very mixed bag of individuals when you go this route. This is a public forum so I will say no more.
I hate to say it... but there are incompetent Administrations all across this country in LE. There are people occupying key critical positions who are nowhere near qualified for the responsibility they have. Unfortunately, these situations flush out those not up to the task. If I recall, the Parkland incident involved a female Administrator that made a bad call as well. If I'm wrong, forgive me.
Just think of all the political appointments in the current Administration... the track records for failure. We will see more of this as the norm is EVERYONE'S A WINNER is the new way... thus ANYONE can occupy a critical position of authority, skills and abilities be damned.
I'll stop now, I need more coffee.
I get that completely, and do see/understand your logic. Cold, hard fact is, 99.9% of departments do not require their personnel to "run toward the guns," but to hold position, maintain public order/safety, and await further instructions. Granted, the average citizen expects "someone" to do "something." It comes down to individual choice. LE present may have been following orders/policy, they may have been scared, they may have not even cared. I can't get inside their heads, so honestly don't know. While I 100% understand your point.
At the same time you have to see that they didn’t want 100’s of parents storming the school. That could have turned into a bigger mess. Like being shot by the wack job who went on the spree.
I personally don’t expect normal cops to make the right call in the moment, and it is easy to sit back, not in the moment and make calls. At the time they probably didn’t even know how many shooters and were still trying to assess the situation.
The evil here was the shooter. Not law enforcement officers. I understand the scrutiny and welcome it, but remember they were responding in the moment, doing what they thought best to keep the situation from being worse, like keeping hundreds of people from storming an active shooter. Maybe it wasn’t the right call in hindsight but I don’t think their intentions were to make this worse.
Seems like it's time to cover up, clean up, or try to get some BS story together while it drags out.I have no problem exercising my first amendment rights. In years gone by, when most information was passed by newspaper and/or TV, the pause for the "facts/truth" to come out was expected. These days, we get live/raw information, granted it is a best guess based on present circumstances, and each individual makes there own judgement/decisions, right or wrong, based on what is currently available.
I understand preserving information for the sake of an investigation, and not to release information that would aid a perpetrator(s), but IMO, the longer the delay justified as required to ensure the "facts" are released, the higher the potential for the release to be spun into something that portrays they who release the information in the best light possible. AFAIK, every sizeable PD in the nation has someone that works public relations. Public relations = preserving the image of the department, not necessarily fact, until fact can't be sanely denied. Then it's damage control.
Not a fan of political appointments unless they are truly made by vetting selecting the best qualified and capable candidate. Anything else is cronyism, if not corruption. Worse than worse if the individual making the appointment is clueless about the intended area of responsibility, and or exercising cronyism/corruption.
The Difference is now there is alternate information. And it is so Beneficial. Rittenhouse would have been completely screwed over if there wasn't 1. Real time Livestreaming 2.
