Could have bought a Krag Jorgensen 30-40 carbine one time for $40, pondered about it over a week and passed on it cause I couldn’t find any ammo, didn’t want it if I couldn’t shoot it, boy was I stupid ! Was sometime in the mid 1990’s..

    Ordered some 2x4x14 studs. $14.77

Lord I wish that I’d had it delivered last year. I did stack up 3/4” plywood.

Finishing out a 40x60 shop. Most of it ply but framing in a portion to be climate controlled (window unit or mini split) and its going to have to be drywall.

At this point anything that remotely is a good deal I've been buying. Hedge against any nonsense from the current climate. A year from now we might be wistfully thinking about .80 cents per rd. Damm dirt clods are going to be out of control soon!

That also applies to even non gun related stuff. Shoes, clothes etc.

When I complain about ammo prices dad said cokes used to be a nickel and for a dime could get a coke and a hamburger, they not going back to those prices.

In 1969 I found a pristine 1967 Shelby 428 AC Cobra for sale for $4500. I wanted to buy it, I had a job and the money to make the payments but my father refused to co-sign for me. Years later I told him how much that car would be worth and he laughed said - the way you drove then would have killed yourself and totaled the car. I took a second to think and agreed he was right.

Shelby Mustangs for about $6500 in 1968
I bought a brand new 1965 Mustang fastback, pony interior, fully loaded for $3015...still have the invoice. Had to finance it for three years @ $100 per month. It was a lemon and I nearly traded it in on a used 1963 Corvette split window. I couldn't afford the $4000 difference. I would like to have either, or both, now. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

The Mustang posts reminded me of a couple.
I drove a 1967 Mustang all thru college before I traded it in on a new 1979 Cutlass.
In the ‘90s I decided I wanted another one.
I came across a 1966 fastback for $5400. It had a new paint job, new interior and a 289 with a factory 4 barrel.
It drove good, I liked it but hated to buy the first car I looked at.
After looking at half a dozen others I realized what a good deal that one was so I call the guy and it had sold.
    That’s a $50,000 car these days.
Another time in the late ‘80s I could’ve bought a restored Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible for $23,500. That was big money then but it would go for 10 times that now.

Back in 1988 I knew a guy with a Ferrari 308 that was looking to trade in for a Lamborghini. They offered him $16,500 for the car. I then offered him $18,000. He said to let him think about it overnight. The next day he said another guy offered him $21,000. I thought about offering $22,000 but figured the other guy would up his and $22,000 was already a little more than I wanted to pay so did not up my offer. The other guy got it for $21,000. Less than 2 months later Enzo Ferrari died and the value immediately jumped to over $50,000. Thats my luck...

Back in 1984 I guy I flew with on helicopters at Hurlburt Field was PCS-ing overseas. He offered to sell me a 2 br 2 bath condo on Cinco Bayou w/ deeded boat slip near Chan's for $64,000! In comparison I purchased a brand new spec 3 br 2 ba house off Hwy 87 in Navarre for $49,000 about the same time! I don't even want to imagine what that condo would be worth now!
