This is a 90 (+or -) lb Mousehole anvil made in Sheffield England sometime between 1820's-1840's according to my research. I have owned it for about 14 yrs. I obtained it from a 3+ generation farm estate sale in the mountains of NC. It is in excellent condition considering it is pre-Civil War. The face is smooth and level with no dips or gaps. FS price $500. I would consider firearms, body armor, (4) 265/70/16 all terrain tires, ammo, silver, gold or canoe/ kayak in trade. No I WILL NOT ship! (The only one like it I found is $1200+ $300 shipping on Ebay and that one is not in near as good condition as this one.) This would be great for a blacksmith or knifemaker shop & Forge! The markings are as follows:

    M&H
    ARMITAGE
    MOUSE
    HOLE
    FORGE
    SHEFFIELD ENGLAND
    0.3.6

Did you weigh this anvil? The markings you posted 0.3.6. Puts it weighing 90 lbs . Not that it really matters. There was a time I would have been all over this but as time has passed I need to get rid of some of my anvils not buy more. Good luck with your sale.

Actually I think you are correct and the actual weight is about 90 lbs (+or-) ;) . My goofy bath room scales on a portable work stand are not real.
Anvils were weighed in stone weight markings, as in yours 0 3 6 the first number is a full stone which is 112 lbs yours is 0 the second number is 1/4 stone or 28 lbs. in your case 3x28=84 the third number is actual weight , yours is 6 so 84+ 6 = 90 I love finding anvils and telling people how much they weigh. Anvils have an interesting history it always amazes me.
