I'm not finding many FFP scout scopes. Burris offers a fixed 2.75 x 20 mm or a variable 2-7 x 32 mm with 2FP. Anyone know what magnification the BDC Reticle is calibrated for? 2Mag or 7Mag?

Just because you are interested in a "scout" gun ... do you gotta have a "scout" scope ??
What abiut a 1-3 MOA green dot ??
I can quite essily ring 6" steel at 250yds with a 1MOA green. ---- SAWMAN

State the reasoning for a "scout" FFP.
Not critical ... just interested. --- SAWMAN
FFP Mildot Reticle would allow accurate ranging regardless of scope magnification.
RFP (second/rear focal plane) is only calibrated to accurately reflect true Mildot at only one magnification power. (usually highest magnification setting.)

About that 8 inches at 300 yards, the more I can reduce shooter error the better. JMHO.

Soooooo . . . you want/need the rangeing capability. Can you use a scope with tic marks, only 3,below the horizontal ?? --- SAWMAN
With enough trial & error on fixed paper probably. I could just set a 300 yard zero and let the .308 Win ballistics take care of the 8 inch circle.

So on the Burris 2-7 32 mm Ballistic PLEX, anyone know what mag power the reticle is calibrated for?
(Say the version for 168 grain .462BC to be specific)

I have made some of the longer hits on "real targets" and NEVER,EVER had the need for that MILDOT/MILRAD crap. And I challenge anybody to store all that college level math in their heads.
And full disclosure - - -> I AM NOT THE WORLDS GREATEST SHOT. But to me,it is more about discipline and outside ballistics(at the high school level) than about simply being a GOOD SHOT. --- SAWMAN

Go to the BURRIS site. Look for the retical.Gives you a "how to use" with 308Win. --- SAWMAN
Well, to be quite honest what the Burris site says to me is that the scope actually isn't going to work in the same manner as on a precision rifle. The Ballistic Reticle isn't actually as accurate as the Old Leatherwood ART.

If I'm matching true muzzle velocity to the specs listed at an altitude of 2000 ft, no consideration for humidity etc. How about at Sea Level? It's all WAG!
If I was sporting a semiautomatic vice a bolt action I'd be considering if an EO Tech with a multiplier was a better choice.
Depending on the Scout Rifles intended use, it may be time to stow the rear iron site in the butt stock pouch and affix the standard Ruger Mounts? A simple duplex fixed magnification day scope zeroed at 300 yards would work well afield, but paper punching offhand at the one-way range it would be wanting.

Mildots and Milrads equal no math.

For those that want to skip to the chase: start at the 8 min mark.

Anyone have the Vortex Crossfire II 2-7 x 32 Scout Scope?
    How is the clarity?

Hard to believe that the rings could be more expensive than the scope?

Betcha made by BURRIS with tha floating insert. That feature was offered a long time ago.
Not worth it IMO. Better choices for alot less.

I've got two. I like them. Hard to beat for the money. Glass is on par with my Nikons

Ever glazed into the Burris Scout Scope?
Gave up on Nikons for Weavers Tactical Scopes, but I've yet to find a Burris that was as clear as the Japanese Weavers. I've never viewed a Vortex, so I'm not to sure about the clarity. But $200, is this one of those you get what you pay for deals?

I've yet to notice a difference within a hundred yards for hunting or plinking. For 1,000 yards though there is a big difference. Still better than anything I ever had as a kid 30 years ago

Some of the LPVO types have a reasonably long eye relief also.
My Burris R6 seems longer to me. But you can "make your own" eve relief. Back off to normal, acquire the target then come closer or farther depending on your usage.
Works great with the 1-4 ,2 -7,and 2-8 better made scopes. --- SAWMAN
