scope recommendations for carry handle mount ar 15

i am a vietnam m16 era dude who recently bought a bushmaster xm15. it has a fixed carry handle. i would like to mount a scope on it for my old eyes. i am looking for a scope. such as bushnell ar 223 or leupold ar or similiar.. i would rather NOT use a red dot or holographic sight. just a scope that won't look too bulky on the handle. any of you guys who have this set up, please reply. i am also using a fixed stock. kind of retro looking.

Scope is going to sit kind of high... you will most likely end up wanting some type of cheek rest.

Have you considered swapping the fix carry handle upper out for a flat top?

The Leupold Mk AR scopes are ok, I have a couple of them. The reticles are thick, great for hunting or fast shooting/follow up shots as they really stand out, not so good for precision type shooting... but I suppose the latter really isn't a priority or main intended use so it's probably a non-issue.
