Have a redhawk with a very gritty hammer/sear. Any local competent smith's around that do work on Ruger revolvers? Would like a basic trigger job and the necessary cleaning up that needs to be done.

If the redhawk is the same type of mechanism as the GP100 as I believe that it basically is then you can easily do the job yourself at home in about an hours time. Installing a shim kit might improve that gritty feeling as well as smooth up the trigger. Rugers tend to have a little side to side movement in the hammer and other parts that can sometimes cause it to feel gritty. By straightening that up you'll smooth up the trigger and possibly eliminate that feeling. Also, a good set of Wolff springs would greatly help it if your still using factory stuff. I did this to my SP101 and it made a world of difference. Here's a video to help and a link to the shims...
