How long do tax stamps last? Like I hear people say you apply and get one but I've never heard how long they last. Is it a yearly thing or a one time thing?

I've searched online but don't see anything but wait times to get one.

    Thanks!

Just to clearify, if I bought an NFA item and got the tax stamp, and never sold the NFA item, the stamp would be good as long as I own it?

Sorry just want to make sure I understand what you said lol

Yes and when you die your relatives may then be in felony possession of NFA items. Or if you are out of the house and it's not locked in a safe in which your wife doesn't have the code to. Or you are injured or dead and she picks up the item to defend herself and the list of stupid bureaucratic nuances to the law go on and on. Got to to love it when the well meaning lawmakers write mountains of paperwork with unintended consequences that makes felons out of honest citizens trying to do the right thing.

I want some NFA items as well and have been convinced a firearms trust is the way to go for these types of issues and many others. Put family members and others whom you may want to have access to the weapons on the trust and all is good I'm told.

The ATF has been quite helpful to many families getting legal NFA items transferred following a death. I'm not sure why people get so freaked out over NFA items. The executor can posses the items while the transfer is taking place and it's a tax free transfer to the heir.
