Road Trip to CMP Store in Anniston!

A couple of us are making a road trip up to Anniston, AL to go to the CMP Store on October 3rd. Leaving at 4am to be there when they open (they put out the new stock on Tuesday while they are closed).

My car is full - but if anyone wants to caravan up there, shoot me a PM for details.

I ended up with 2 Service Grade H&R .30-06 Garands and 4 Special Grade Springfield .308 Garands...

Only 1 of the .308 Garands was for me -- the other 5 rifles were bought for friends.

We did have to load 19 .30 cal ammo cans full of .30-06 ammo for JJ... The car's rear end was riding a little low on the return trip!

I'll probably make one more trip up there before the end of the year -- as I can get 5 more rifles this calendar year. Maybe some forum members would like to tag along on the next trip?

I'd really really like to have one but dont qualify for the purchase if memory serves correct

Go to the CMP website to see the requirements & prices. Pretty much anyone who wants to jump through the hoops to qualify - can.

It is easier for LE & military to qualify - but really anyone can if they want to bad enough...

I'm working near the CMP store tomorrow, so I plan to stop by when they open - to see what new rifles may be on the racks.

Yes, they have plenty of Springfield Special Grade .308 rifles on the racks - all very nice looking.

Enjoyed seeing y'all there. I wound up with six Service Grade H&Rs and two Field Grade Springfields. One of the Springfields was a 3.6 mil with its original 3-1945 barrel. I'm restoring that one back to original. Anybody got a SA/NFR stock they want to sell?

You can join the Garand Collector's Association for $25 -- at the CMP Store -- to serve as your "club".
