Wasn't sure where to post this . I have a Glock 27 that was hydrodipped and I am wondering if there is an easy way to remove the hydrodipping without damaging the plastic frame. This gun has the OD frame and I would like to take it back to that . I know the slide is an easy fix but I was wondering about possibly soda blasting the frame. If you guys have any reccommendations on a local sand/soda blaster please feel free to suggest someone.
    Thanks
    John

Soda blasting is about the only option aside from a gel paint stripper and a stiff bristle brush. Either option will alter the finish on the frame though. I have had mixed success with both methods.

The only ways I've heard of for removing hydrodip on polymer is soda blasting or using a plastic safe stripper such as Eastwood Gel Paint Stripper. Regardless, always test on a hidden area.

Trader Dan the OD appears to be original. All the innards and nooks and crannies are OD.

The finish will never look like it did from the factory. The ones I tried wound up with a frosted look. Wound up Ceracoating them. I kinda like the digital Camo finish though.

How does the cerakote hold up .... I am worried about the hydrodip holding up if I carry it.

I might look at just refinishing just the slide , maybe in coyote or black. I kinda like that idea,

I have a Glock 17 that's been through everything from Snapper trips to the hunting camp and still looks good.. If properly applied its every bit as durable as a factory finish. In some cases better. Same for Duracoat.

The only real problems I had with cerakote was wearing on sharp edges, BUT prob alot to do with how you use it too. I carried mine in console and it got slid around abit, also kydex holster seem to wear edges.

Most people that do ceracoat don't take time to shoot a second coat on high wear surfaces.

One of my shift mates does the duracoat finishes..looks awesome and holds up great. He's got a personal AR and he did a glock that he carries on duty, and both have held up flawlessly. If anyone wants his info, PM me
