I wonder why go to the bother of a composite (plastic) lower but use a metal forearm?
why are they doing composite lowers? Cost or weight? Maybe plastic weigh more that aluminum?

Yeah, i was thinking that too. The 15-22 has a poly rail. Buffer tube is poly though on the plum crazy.

In that price range, I'd probably say to hold back another $50 and go for a Radical on sale, unless you want the polymer receiver set for weight. https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/814034026420
From my playing with parts the weight savings isn't there. The exception is the NFA CF lower. The poly uppers are heavier than the anderson slick side, due to the renforcement parts they have to add.
I've got a 4.1 lb ar15( no optic) built with off the shelf parts, a Frankenstein build but goes pew.

Agree. I personally have one polymer lower build, and it weighs in at 6.2lbs unloaded, though no particular consideration was given to weight savings, and the upper is aluminum. 6lbs is not a particularly light build for a polymer receiver, though it is lighter than the 8lb Radical in the same price range with no polymer.
